This year’s Oscar was the main center of controversy for various reasons, but what Will Smith did surely hands down became the shocking moment of the year and stunned everyone.

It’s almost a year to this particular incident but looks like Will Smith couldn’t forget what did to Chris Rock and the aftermath he faced.

Will Smith appeared on TV’s The Daily Show with Trevor Noah to promote his new film Emancipation, the actor recalled the incident that overshadowed Hollywood’s top awards ceremony last March.

He shared his emotions that night and expressed a lot of stuff during the interview.

Will Smith On Slapping Chris Rock

In March, Will Smith slapped Chris Rock after he made a joke about his wife’s hair and things got heated.

The Academy Awards also banned Will Smith for 10 years from the Oscars after that physical assault on Chris Rock.

Will Smith said, “That was a horrific night as you can imagine. There are many nuances and complexities to it. But at the end of the day, I lost it,” Smith told Noah.

“I was going through something that night … not that that justifies my behavior at all. …

It was a lot of things. It was the little boy that watched his father beat up his mother … all of that just bubbled up at that moment. That’s not who I want to be.”

Fans Are Not Ready To Watch Me

In another interview, Will Smith said that he would “completely understand” if some people were not yet ready to watch him in a new movie.

“I would respect that and allow them their space to not be ready,” he said. “My deepest hope is that my actions don’t penalize my (production) team.”

Will Smith after the incident, however, he publicly apologized to his fans and Chris Rock as he got emotional.
