After six seasons, ABC’s popular cop drama The Rookie season 7 has become a weekly staple. Now is over, and Nathan Fillion’s role as the main character is over. In the 2018 movie The Rookie, John Nolan, a normal guy from a small town, tries to become an LAPD cop by becoming the oldest rookie in the history of the force. The show cleverly twists the normal procedural format by focusing on the characters, and Fillion’s performance as Nolan is one of its best parts.

The Rookie is one of the network’s top showsand has gotten mostly good reviews since its premiere. Its high production values often make it a much better show than most other nighttime cop shows. There was a spinoff called The Rookie: Feds in 2022, but it was abruptly dropped after one season because of the 2023 Hollywood strikes. Even The Rookie season 6 had to be pushed back because of the strikes, but that didn’t change how popular the show was overall. This is why The Rookie season 7 also got a lot of attention from fans.

The Rookie Season 7: Full Cast Guide:

In shows like The Rookie, characters come and go a lot, but season 6 didn’t have too many changes that would affect season 7. In season 7, most of the main cast will be back in their old roles. Nathan Fillion will lead the cast again as rookie-turned-veteran cop John Nolan. Because she was pregnant in real life, Jenna Dewan only did a few shows of season 7, but Bailey Nune was there the whole time.

One Tru Valentino, who has played Aaron Thorsen on The Rookie since season 4, is leaving the show so quickly. No reason has been given for his exit. A few new actors were added to the season. Two of them play new police officers. Miles, played by Deric Augustine, is from Texas, and Seth, played by Patrick Keleher, is quick-witted and good at handling tough situations. There will be recurring parts for both Keleher and Augustine in season 7 and beyond.

The main group of The Rookie season 7 is made up of:

    1. Nathan Fillion: “John Nolan”.
    2. Alyssa Diaz: “Angela Lopez”.
    3. Richard T. Jones: “Wade Grey”.
    4. Melissa O’Neil: “Lucy Chen”.
    5. Eric Winter: “Tim Bradford”.
    6. Mekia Cox: “Nyla Harper”.
    7. Shawn Ashmore: “Wesley Evers”.
    8. Jenna Dewan: “Bailey Nune”.
    9. Lisseth Chavez: “Celina Juarez”.
    10. Deric Augustine: “Miles”.
    11. Patrick Keleher: “Seth”.

Ending of The Rookie Season 7 Explained in Detail:

At the end of The Rookie season 7, a few plots that started during the season come to a head.

It is revealed at the end that Nolan has been looking for Oscar ever since he got out of jail in season 6. When he finally finds Nolan, Oscar has taken him hostage. This leads to a fight, and the runaway is saved by a helicopter in the desert.

Monica also keeps getting away with her crimes in The Rookie season 7. She steals a key card earlier in the season that lets her into a secure government building. Later, she uses the information she got from stealing files to negotiate with the government for her freedom. In the end, she surprises everyone by going to the police station as a free woman.

Lucy gets used to being a sergeant after being promoted in the end, even though it’s a big change. She had to change her whole sleep and work routine to take the promotion because the only sergeant job is on the night shift. As a result of her promotion, Tim visits her at home and makes her breakfast after a long shift. He then starts to list all the reasons he wants to get back together with her, but she is already asleep because she is so tired. It’s clear that the couples who are loved by fans aren’t done yet.

The Full Storyline of The Rookie Season 7:

The end of The Rookie season 6 left a few big loose ends that had to be picked up in the next episodes. The show is still very much a classic procedural, though. The most important one was Oscar getting away from jail. His escape wasn’t a big part of every show, but it was at the end of the season, and it’s still possible for Oscar to come back.

Along with the cases of the week, the team of police officers had to deal with Monica, played by Bridget Regan, who was a reoccurring bad guy. As usual for Regan, she plays interesting bad guys on network TV, and this time is no different. The team has a hard time with her all season, and in the end, she comes back to tease them about her freedom.

Of course, one of the things that draws people to The Rookie season 7 is how the group gets along with each other. This season, Nolan’s time as a trainer for newcomers comes to an end. This means that there is room to both promote actors and bring in new ones. Lucy and Tim’s relationship also got better after they broke up in season 6. The show also brought back some characters from the past to wrap up even older plots.

The Rookie season 7 had a good mix of cases of the week and main stories for people who have watched the show before.

Breaking Down The Rookie Season 7 Finale and Season 8 Setup:

All of those plots in the end of The Rookie season 7 help set the stage for season 8. Since Oscar killed someone and held one of their own hostage, the team will have to keep looking for him. They will probably be even more driven to do so. Likewise, they will have to wait and see how Monica’s deal for protection changes things for them going forward. Will she keep getting away with the crimes she’s more than likely going to keep committing? The show will be able to keep both of those crooks for longer arcs while still starting new cases every week, even though they are very different.

When Tim talks about his breakup with Lucy again in the season 7 finale, it’s possible that they will be going through another relationship change soon. In season 7, they both made big changes in their lives and are now in a place where they could be in a relationship. Season 8 of The Rookie will probably look into that idea.
