The Foundation season 3, Apple TV+’s show based on the Isaac Asimov book, is almost here, but there have been problems with the production. The Foundation season 1 got mixed to positive reviews. The set design and acting of both Jared Harris as the main character, Hari Seldon, and Lee Pace as the bad guy, Brother Day, one of a group of genetic clones that run the Galactic Empire, were praised. Some awards and votes came in for Season 1, which won two Visual Effects Society Awards. This led to a season 2, which started airing in 2023.
The season 2 of the Apple TV+ original sci-fi show really set the tone for the whole thing, and it fixed the problems that the season 1 had. A season 3 was quickly ordered, with a bigger cast and faster-paced stories that went into more detail about the empire’s rise and fall. The season 3 has been put on hold for two years because of real-life events, but things are finally starting to move forward. Even though no one knows for sure when Foundation season 3 will come back to TV, is still going to happen.
Who’s in the Cast of Foundation Season 3?
The Foundation season 3 may have some characters from the season 2, but most of the group is still unknown. There was a 138-year gap between the first and seasons 2, though, so the cast might also change. Alexander Siddig, who played a figure on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, is coming back to play a new role in The Foundation season 3. Siddig only played Advocate Xylas in one episode of season 1, but he will be a regular character from now on as Dr. Ebling Mis, a psycho-historian who studies Hari Seldon’s work.
Oscar winner Troy Kotsur has been cast as a new member of the cast of Foundation season 3. He will play a major part in the next episodes. Kotsur will now play Preem Palver, a man who is in charge of a whole world full of psychics. He may be best known for his award-winning role in CODA. The rest of the cast was announced in March 2024. Cherry Jones will play Foundation Ambassador Quent, and Pilou Asbaek will play the Warlord. Not much is known about these new supporting parts.
The announced cast for season 3 of Foundation is:
- Lee Pace: “Brother Day”.
- Jared Harris: “Hari Seldon”.
- Alexander Siddig: “Dr. Ebling Mis”.
- Troy Kotsur: “Preem Palver”.
- Cherry Jones: “Ambassador Quent”.
- Pilou Asbæk: “Warlord”.
- Synnøve Karlsen: “Bayta Mallow”.
- Cody Fern: “Toran Mallow”.
- Brandon P. Bell: “Han Pritcher”.
- Tómas Lemarquis: “Magnifico Giganticus”.
- Yootha Wong-Loi-Sing: “Song”.
- Leo Bill: “Mayor Indbur”.
Foundation Officially Renewed for Season 3:
Apple TV+ confirmed that would be back for a Foundation season 3 in December 2023, but the show had problems from the start. The Foundation season 3 didn’t start filming until the beginning of 2024, after being held up by the Hollywoodstrikes and budget problems. Soon after, work began again, and it wouldn’t be over until the summer of that year for Foundation season 3. David S. Goyer, who ran the show at the time, has since left, and Ian Goldberg will take over for season 4.
Apple TV+ hasn’t said when Foundation season 3 will come out, but they say it will be sometime in 2025. That doesn’t seem impossible, especially since the movie won’t be finished until 2024. But the shows with a lot of visual effects might take longer than usual to finish. In other words, Foundation might show up in late summer or fall 2025.
Why Chose to Reveal the Moon and Earth Twist in Foundation Season 3:
We asked David S. Goyer, who runs Foundation and was in chat with /Film about the season 3 finale, why this important information was put so early in the story. Here’s what the person who came up with this great version had to say:
He went on to say that you can call an audible like this as you go along once you know what the crowd likes and doesn’t like. He talked about the Batman movies, which he worked on with Christopher Nolan, and said:
Don’t miss your chance, right? Because of how well season 3 went, Goyer and his team chose to move up the late-story sneak peek. People who have read the books can make the link right away. Meanwhile, people who are watching Foundation for the first time on Apple TV+ will have to wait until season 4 comes out before they can find out more.
Apple TV+ lets you watch the whole of Foundation season 3.
Inside the Storyline of Foundation Season 3:
We still don’t know what will happen in Foundation season 3, but season 2 ended with another big time jump, like the one between seasons 1 and 2. The season 2 ending took place 152 years in the future, which will connect to the story of the Mule, a mentalist who was originally meant to kill Salvor Hardin. Hari Seldon, the main character, died in the season 2, which is also very sad. It’s clear that the season 2 of the show will bring big problems for all the characters, no matter what the specifics are.
The story for Apple TV+ was inspired by David Goyer, who described it as “a 1,000-year chess game between Hari Seldon and the Empire, and all the characters in between are the pawns” (THR). Based on what was said, Hari might come back in the Foundation season 3 story after all.
