Part 2 started on June 13 and picks up where Part 1 left off, with Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) proposing to Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan), who was more of a wallflower. In Part 2, Colin and Penelope think about their new relationship and seem to realise how much they love each other. They are happy together, but they still have secrets. This means that Penelope has a secret name in Mayfair: Lady Whistledown, who writes the most famous gossip sheets in the tonne.
Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2 has really been Diamond of the First Water. Between May 16 and June 30, 91.9 million people watched it, putting it at No. 10 on Netflix’s list of all-time most popular English-language TV shows. Every day, more people join the party. Season 3 joins the other seasons about the Bridgerton family on the list. Seasons 1 and 2 are ranked No. 4 and No. 9 now. There was so much praise for Bridgerton’s work that the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards gave Season 3 two nods.

Bridgerton season 3 Part 2: The Whistledown dilemma: resolved?
In Seasons 1 and 2, the Duke and Anthony’s complicated fatherly pasts kept them from falling in love. This season, Penelope’s secret life as a gossip sheet writer caused problems. Part Two was mostly about how this discovery got ready to be shared with Colin and the rest of the tonne. Eloise threatened to tell everyone, and Cressida Cowper, in a desperate attempt to avoid her own bad luck, took on the identity of Whistledown.
But the showrunners had a problem when they tried to solve this problem: what would happen to Lady Whistledown, who has been causing trouble throughout the series, now that everyone knew the truth? In the book Romancing Mr. Bridgerton, Penelope stops writing after she gets married to Colin. But this would not have been a good quality for the screen. Because Whistledown is power, as Penelope knows. Was it really worth it for her to give up this just to fit in as a wife, especially since that would mean hiding behind her husband, the author?
All of these issues came up in Series 3, when Penelope had to think about how valuable Whistledown was. Eloise tells her that the piece is mostly “just gossip,” and that her pen does more harm than good most of the time. But for a long time, it also gave the shy wallflower a way to express herself, a voice, a personality, and a way to make money.
Colin, too, has to deal with his own anger and insecurity when he finds out the truth. At first, the insult Lady Whistledown gave him at the beginning of the season bothers him more than what I thought would be the big problem: Whistledown telling everyone about his ex-girlfriend Marina’s pregnancy. He also wonders, “Then what good am I to you?” if his wife can take care of herself. So, the show asks interesting questions about how men at the time felt about women’s jobs.
In the end, Penelope decides to take responsibility for her past actions and tell the truth to the tonne. This is better than the book, where Colin supposedly offers to be her spokesperson. Although Cressida’s threats and Queen Charlotte’s investigations put her in a tough spot, it was a nice surprise to see Penelope tell the truth on her own terms, finally shedding her role as a shy person and becoming the star of the show. She will keep writing her piece from now on, but she will sign off as Penelope Bridgerton.
On the other hand, the way everyone reacted to this news was a little silly. How likely is it that the queen would just forget about it? And that people wouldn’t treat her any differently? Pen can even go off by herself after her speech, as if no one cares or wants to hear more from her on the subject! I think that in later seasons, the long-term effects of this will be looked at, but for now, it seems like the need for a happy finish made real effects less important.
When Bridgerton season 3 Parts 1 and 2 come out?
Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2 was split into two groups of four shows each. It’s now possible for you to watch all eight shows.
Showrunner Jess Brownell says that Part 2 goes into what happened after the cliffhanger finish of Part 1. “Episode 4 ends on a big world-shifting midpoint because that’s how eight episodes naturally fit together, and we’ve done it every season,” she tells Parhlo World. “People know there’s something else hanging over Penelope and Colin that will cause problems in the second half.”

Bridgerton season 3 Part 2 Love and lust:
Even though Nicola Coughlan, the actor, said the show would be very romantic, Penelope and Colin’s happy times together were sadly few and far between. Part One was mostly about Colin’s jealousy of Penelope’s friendship with Lord Debling. Part Two was mostly about his anger at her secret. But I guess that’s the point of all Bridgerton books: the story depends on problems and stress until the very end, when everything works out. But the payoff felt a little weak.
One noticeable exception was the much-talked-about sexy “mirror scene,” which happened early in episode 5. I’m not sure if it was the bright sunshine or the fact that this scene happened so quickly, but something about it felt (dare I say it?) off. It probably doesn’t help that it lasts six minutes and Penelope spends a lot of that time looking scared. In the end, though, this is more realistic than the intense sexiness that Bridgerton often goes for (especially in a “first time” scene), and seeing Colin and Penelope talk was a nice change of pace. The most important thing is that Nicola Coughlan has talked about how this scene gives her and other women strength.
A favourite part of the book was the wedding scene, even though Colin and Penelope were not getting along at the time. Coldplay’s “Yellow” was played classically as Pen walked down the aisle in her beautiful blush-pink dress, just as fans had hoped. Colin and Penelope then danced on the spot to a perfect musical cover of “You Belong With Me” at their wedding breakfast. As they dance, the people watching move out of the way, making it look like they are the only two people in the room. This trick is also used in the 2005 movie version of Pride and Prejudice, and I always fall for it.

How to Enhance Your Subplots in Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2?
In my last review, I said that Part One’s side stories didn’t have any point. The good news is that things got better in the second half. Kate and Anthony planned a trip to India after Kate found out she was pregnant so that Kate could reconnect with her past. This was a nice touch because she was supposed to fit in perfectly with the Bridgerton family otherwise.
In the end, Benedict’s boring relationship with Tilley Arnold did have a point: their connection with Paul Suarez, which was polyamorous, gave him a way to explore his sexuality. Although Benedict turned down Tilley’s growing interest, this makes it less likely that he will be the lead in next season. Is he ready to get married?
John and Francesca got married, even though Violet had her doubts at first. I liked how this pair was different from the other Bridgerton couples in terms of tone. Violet saw a new example of what love could be: not always instant and intensely passionate, but based on true friendship. This plot point seemed to be shot down, though, when Francesca had an incredibly strong response to John’s cousin Michaela Stirling in the last episode.
Fans of the original books may know her as Michael Stirling, the main love interest in Francesca’s book, but with the names switched around. Were there ever going to be a main couple of the same gender? Of course, Reynolds and Brimsley were a great side couple in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. (I still can’t wait for their spin-off.) Masali Baduza makes an impression as Michaela Stirling in just a few seconds. I’m already a fan of hers from her role in Noughts + Crosses, and I can’t wait to see more of this character.
Who is Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2 about?
After the Featherington Ball in Season 2, Penelope is crushed when she hears Colin tell a group of bachelors that he will never date her. Penelope’s fight with her best friend Eloise (Claudia Jessie) at the end of Season 2 won’t make her feel better either. But at Tudum: A Global Fan Event, Coughlan told fans that Penelope is ready for Season 3’s shocking new London season.
“Polin stans, I see you!” He said this from the Tudum stage in June 2023. “This season, Penelope goes back to London determined to change into a new woman and gain her independence…” We can’t wait to take you on the carriage ride.
The official summary says that Penelope is finally ready to give up her long-term crush on Colin by the start of Season 3. That doesn’t mean she’s over love, though. Instead, Penelope has decided it’s time to get married. She would like to find a husband who will let her keep living her secret life as Lady Whistledown, away from her mother and sisters.
That being said, the rest of the summary says that Penelope’s tries on the marriage mart fail spectacularly because she lacks confidence. Colin, on the other hand, has come back from his summer trips with a new look and a serious attitude. But it makes him sad to know that Penelope, the only person who has ever liked him for who he was, is ignoring him. Colin wants to get back with Penelope and offer to teach her how to be more confident so that she can find a husband this season. But when Colin’s lessons start to work too well, he has to decide if his feelings for Penelope are really just friendly.
Even things are more difficult for Penelope because she has a disagreement with Eloise and Eloise has made a new friend in an odd place. Also, Penelope’s growing presence in the tonne makes it harder to hide her identity as Lady Whistledown.
An Unstoppable Trio Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2:
Last but not least, I will talk about Lady Danbury, Violet Bridgerton, and Portia Featherington. This group was my favourite part of the season. We see how Lady Danbury’s troubled marriage has caused problems between her and her brother, which in turn shows us more about her difficult relationship with her father and how it has changed her. At the same time, Violet, who is always smart, has a sweet chance at a new love story.
Portia might be the one who has grown the most. Even though she has doubts about right and wrong, like most interesting people, we can see why she has always acted the way she has. Even though she is going in the wrong direction, she is always motivated by her love for her children and her disappointment with her own loveless and unstable marriage. She and Penelope then have some touching scenes together that show how much they are alike, which neither of them had ever noticed before. In these kinds of scenes, Nichola Coughlan and Polly Walker’s performance really shines.
Has Bridgerton Season 3 Received Any Award Nominations?
Yes, it was only a matter of time before Season 3 was nominated for awards. For her charming role as Penelope, Mayfair’s changed wallflower, Coughlan is up for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series at the 2025 SAG Awards. The Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2 group is also up for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.
