UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak Fined
Lancashire Constabulary made Sunak, who was recording a social media clip at the time of the infraction, a “conditional offer of fixed punishment.”
A spokeswoman for Downing Street said on Friday that the British prime minister “would of course comply” with the punishment. The spokeswoman continued, “The Prime Minister fully realises this was a mistake.
Sunak apologised for a “short lapse of judgement” while filming an Instagram video in northern England, according to Sunak’s spokeswoman, who also advised people to buckle up.
“You will be aware that a video has been making the rounds on social media showing a person failing to wear a seat belt while a passenger in a moving car in Lancashire,” stated Lancashire Police.
After investigating the situation, we handed a 42-year-old male from London a conditional offer of fixed penalty today (Friday, January 20th).
