Soon, X, the company that used to be Twitter, will release a TV app just for movies posted to the social network. Yesterday, Linda Yaccarino, CEO of X, said that the new app will bring “real-time, engaging content to your smart TVs.” An early movie that Yaccarino shared shows that the app’s interface looks a lot like YouTube’s.
The app will have an algorithm for trending videos that will help users stay up to date with relevant popular content. It will also have AI-powered topics that will sort videos by theme. Cross-device viewing will also be possible through the app. This means that you can start watching a movie on your phone and then continue on your TV.
According to Yaccarino, the app will let you search for videos better and will be available on “most smart TVs.” There isn’t a set date for when the app will be available, but the executive says it will be “soon.”
The new app is part of Yaccarino’s plan to make the social media site a “video first” tool for free speech. Right now, the social network has an original show hosted by Tulsi Gabbard, who used to be a congressman, and another show hosted by Jim Rome, who used to be a host on Fox Sports. Musk broke off a deal to be on a talk show with former CNN host Don Lemon last month, after being interviewed for the first episode of the show.

This news comes a week after Truth Social, the social media site run by Donald Trump’s media company, said it was going to start a live TV streaming service. It will focus on “news networks” and “religious channels,” as well as “content that has been canceled” or “is being suppressed on other platforms and services,” the business said.
