Season 2 of Severance finally came out after three years, and fans were still very happy with it.
Severance is a sci-fi mind-melter set in a world where workers at Lumon, a biotechnology company, can have their minds “severed” at work. The show is run by Dan Erickson and Ben Stiller is the executive director. Their “Innies” don’t remember the outside world while they work, and their “Outies” don’t have to take their work with them when they go outside.
Excellent premise that makes me think deeply about work, identity, and how companies try to gain more power over their workers. Season 2 looked into these ideas while also solving new mysteries and showing fans different parts of Lumon’s business and scientific work.
Your thoughts on a Severance season 3 may have changed since season 2 is over. Here is everything we know about Severance season 3, including what the stars and creators have said about what will happen next with the show.
Is Severance Renewed for Season 3?
There will be a Severance season 3. Apple TV+ announced the renewal just a few hours after the end of season 2.
When Will Severance Season 3 Be Released?
There isn’t yet an official date set for Severance season 3, but things are already moving in that direction. There won’t be another three-year break between seasons like there was between Seasons 1 and 2. The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes are over, and production is back on track. According to Ben Stiller, Apple is still committed to the show’s high production value, even though budgets are changing across the industry. Erickson told Entertainment Weekly that the next chapter is already taking shape, telling fans, “We’re continuing the story in a way that honors everything we’ve set upβand there’s so much more to uncover.”
Without a doubt, Severance Season 3will bring more existential fear and maybe, just maybe, the solutions we’ve been waiting for. Fans can get some peace of mind while they wait for a release date and video. The world of Lumon is still very much alive.
Updated Cast List for Severance Season 3:
There have been no casting news yet, but by the end of Season 2, there was enough story for the characters that we think many of the main characters will be back. These include Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Tramell Tillman, Dichen Lachman, and Patricia Arquette.
Fans have been guessing a lot about what will happen between John Turturro’s character Irving and Christopher Walken’s character Burt since Season 2’s second-to-last episode, where Burt sent Irving on a train to an unknown place for his own safety. Still, Turturro told The Hollywood Reporter that he wants to come back for a Severance season 3. He said, “No.” when asked if he would be happy if that was the end of Irving’s trip. I don’t believe it is. In case someone wanted the story to end? It’s possible! But I believe this has a lot more to offer.”
What Can We Expect from Severance Season 3?
What is not Severance Season 3going to be about? The end of Season 2 left a lot of loose ends, like the war between Big and Little Mark, Mr. Milchick’s future at Lumon, and Gemma.
Gemma’s experience in the Cold Harbor room was asked about by TV Guide. Lachman replied, “I think it’s just that she’s been curious about what happens after that room.” When she sees the clothes she was wearing when she supposedly left the house that night [when she died], she wonders if this is the end of this process. If you want to know what that means for Gemma going into Severance season 3, Lachman wants to know too. She said, “Also, she gets to 100 percent just before she goes into that room, and I’m not sure what that’s going to mean for her moving forward.”
Tillman also told TV Guide that Milchick’s job as boss of the severed floor is left in an interesting place by the end of the show. “He might think that his time is running out, I don’t know,” Tillman thought. “He’s going to fight if he goes out. That’s what I really think. I’m not saying he will be fired, but he would not take it lying down if it happened.
And that last picture of Innie Mark and Helly running away together will definitely have big effects on Severance season 3. “I think that the question on Mark and Helly’s mind is going to be just ‘Now what?'” io9 spoke with Erickson. I think they’ve decided to keep living, but I don’t think they know what that means or how long they have left. Is this something that will let them live for two more minutes or ten more years? That being said, the question is what would you do to stay alive? It looks like you’re starting to understand who you are as a person. What would you do to protect that?”
