At its Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) last month, Apple showed off iOS 18. Since then, the company has put out two developer betas in the past few weeks that add support for more languages in iOS 18’s lock screen, Siri, keyboard, and search.
Because of the new update, you can now change the time on the lock screen to show it in 12 different languages, including Arabic, Arabic Indic, Bangla, Devanagari, Gujarati, Gurmukhi, Kannada, Malayalam, Meitei, Odia, Ol Chiki, and Telugu.
A lot of changes are made to the iOS keyboard, and now it supports predictive typing in three languages across the whole system. On the left and right of the idea area, you can see more language scripts. It’s easy to switch between them. You can also type in Latin and get ideas for all three languages based on what you type without having to switch.
The keyboard will remember the last language you used for a thread in the Messages app if you have more than one thread going at the same time in different languages. English, Bangla, Gujarati, Hindi, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu can all be typed on the three-language interface. Beyond that, the company has also made iOS 18 work with a Korean and English multiscript keyboard.
iOS 18 also makes language search better, so people can look for different ways to spell things that sound the same in that language. They can look for words like “चंदार” and “चरऍदार” in Hindi. You can use the new language search for Assamese, Bangla, Devanagari, and Gujarati.
Other language-related changes made to iOS 18 are:
The business now lets you have live voicemails transcribed in Indian English.
Hindi can now be used in the translate app on iOS 18.
You can now use Arabic with the live text tool.
Hindi and Korean now have a new grammar system.
You can use Indian languages and numbers to make contact signs.

From this fall on, Apple will make iOS 18 available to everyone. The features listed above will be available in test versions of iOS 18. These versions may have bugs, so you may not want to put them on your main device.
