It’s New York City. When Mariah Carey ended her Merry Christmas One and All! Tour on Sunday night, she really made a moment. As the Queen of Christmas, she is all about making a scene.
At the end of her tour, the singer from New York played to a packed Madison Square Garden. It was her second show at the famous venue and the last of 16 Christmas concerts.
Carey, 54, said on stage, “You make me so happy, and the world needs love.” “There’s no greater joy than Christmas.”
The holiday superstar performed a 90-minute show featuring holiday songs and medleys of her most popular songs. The show included renditions of classics like “All I Want for Christmas Is You” and “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town,” as well as newer Christmas hits like “Oh Santa!” with Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson and “Fall in Love at Christmas” with Khalid and Kirk Franklin.
Fans of Carey’s “Lambily” wore both sparkly clothes and ugly Christmas sweaters to the show. They were treated to a surprise appearance by Busta Rhymes on “I Know What You Want” and a mix of “Honey” and “Heartbreaker (Remix)” with Carey’s twins taking the stage.
Monroe Carey sang with her famous mom in a touching version of “Jesus Born On This Day.” The 12-year-old sang and played guitar to the 1980s hit “Christmas Wrapping” earlier in the show. Nick Cannon, Moroccan’s dad, came through in a rap line he did during “Here Comes Santa Claus.”
“My children make such a big difference in my life,” Carey told me. “I love you so much and I learn from you every day.”
Marieh Carey appears for the Merry Christmas One and All! Tour at the Yaamava’ Resort & Casino at San Manuel in Highland, California, on November 15, 2023.
Carey leaned into the stage image her fans know and love. She wore her diva best as she hit high notes, made people laugh with her campy jokes, and helped the next generation of performers by having young dancers get the crowd excited.
One funny part was when her “glam squad song” played while her hair and makeup team rushed to the stage to give her a quick touchup.

“I need some glam squad love, you’ll hear the song,” she stated. “Most people do this behind the stage but we’re here with you guys so we figured make it an experience, make it mesmerizing.”
If you weren’t feeling festive yet, Sunday’s show put a big, beautiful bow on it.
Carey said “Merry Christmas,” and she rode off in a sled, which was something she could only do. “We’re going to miss you, love you!”
