Netflix has ended Kaos Season 2, the Greek mythology comedy show that started in late August. Have learned this.
On the first episode of the show, which aired on August 29, Jeff Goldblum played the all-powerful Zeus in a more silly and nervous way. In modern times, Zeus has chained Prometheus because he got in the way of his divine rule over people. Then, with the help of Eurydice, Ariadne, and Caeneus, three people, Prometheus tries to get rid of Zeus. The eight-episode series was written by Charlie Covell, who wrote “The End of the F***ing World.”
Janet McTeer played Hera, Aurora Perrineau played Eurydice, Cliff Curtis played Poseidon, David Thewlis played Hades, Rakie Ayola played Persephone, Killian Scott played Orpheus, Leila Farzad played Ariadne, Nabhaan Rizwan played Dionysus, Debi Mazar played Medusa, Stephen Dillane played Prometheus, Misia Butler played Caeneus, Mat Fraser as Daedalus, Stanley Townsend played Minos, Billie Piper played Cassandra, Suzy Eddie Izzard played Lachesis, Cathy Tyson played Alecto, and many more were in the cast.
Critic Aramide Tinubu said this about the show: “In the end, Kaos Season 2 fails to delight because the narrative buckles under the weight of its own ambition.” Several stories can be read on their own, but near the season’s disappointing end, they all crash into each other. It wasn’t often that the gods used their powers in ways that made people gasp or feel excited. People watching are mostly left wondering why their small fights should matter to us, when there is already so much to deal with in the world.
When it first came out, the show did stay in the Netflix top 10 for four weeks, but it didn’t get very many viewers during that time. It got as high as number three on the English-language TV chart in its second week, but only 5.9 million people watched it at its peak. A view on Netflix is equal to the total runtime split by the total number of hours watched.
Perrineau first told fans that Kaos Season 2was ending in an Instagram post that has since been pulled. Check out her post below.
“When I started trying out for this show, I knew it was unique because Charlie Covell’s scripts spoke to me in a way that most other things hadn’t.” I knew all of these people and loved them no matter what.
“This is one of the first times in my life that I feel truly proud of myself.” As you might expect, I’m proud of everyone’s work and how much care they put into this project. I mean, they really did. But I’m also proud of myself, which is something I’ve had trouble with.
“I couldn’t believe someone SAW me when I got the part.” Someone thinks I could be one of the leads of a show, have my own agency and purpose, and be desirable enough to be the love interest of not one but two amazing people? I’m a girl who is both a minority and a survivor of South Africa. I was good enough for that? Everything that happened after that really changed how I saw things.
“As the trip went on, I learned about all the amazing talent that was involved, as if Charlie wasn’t enough.” Then I found out that Georgi [Banks-Davies] and Runyararo [Mapfumo] are our leaders. It continued with our amazing group. There are too many to name, but Misia [Butler], Nabhaan [Rizwan], and Killian [Scott] have become lifelong friends, family, and lifelines for us while we drifted through Spain for months.
“Everyone who worked on it—from our beautiful HMU department to Sister to Netflix to our production team to our whole crew—was a heavy hitter.” I was sitting there wondering how. Why me? And I was often told, “Why not you?”
“Everyone was brilliant in their own way.” I was surprised and thrilled by every act. I’m shocked that I got to do this with all of you. We created something strange, dark, funny, crazy, and tragic—something completely human. This is how I want to feel when I leave.
