Meta There has been a fight between CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Apple for a long time.
In a new talk with Joe Rogan, he made fun of Apple again.
The CEO said that Apple hasn’t come up with any new ideas in a while and didn’t like the ecosystem that the iPhone maker created.
Mark Zuckerberg is aiming his gun at Apple again.
In an interview on the “Joe Rogan Experience” show that came out on Friday, the CEO of Meta talked about some problems he has with Apple. This is the latest in a ten-year battle between the two companies.
On the podcast, Zuckerberg said that Apple has been slow to come up with new ideas since the iPhone. He also said that the only ways the company has been able to make money since then are by charging developers fees and making an environment that other companies find hard to get into.
He said that Apple hasn’t “really invented anything great in a while” since the iPhone, but he did say that Apple made one of the most famous smartphones in the world.
“It’s like Steve Jobs invented the iPhone and now they’re just kind of sitting on it 20 years later,” he said.
Zuckerberg said that Apple has been “squeezing people” to make up for falling iPhone sales by giving developers what he called a “30% tax” and building an ecosystem around its popular goods.
“They build stuff like Airpods, which are cool, but they’ve just thoroughly hamstrung the ability for anyone else to build something that can connect to the iPhone in the same way,” he added.
Zuckerberg said Meta went through this while making the Ray-Ban Meta glasses.
In order for the Meta glasses to work with iPhones, the CEO said Apple wouldn’t let Meta use the same “protocol” that Apple uses for AirPods. He said he thought Apple was keeping the Apple environment closed off because of worries about privacy and security.
In October, Andrew Bosworth, Meta’s chief technology officer, said the same thing in an interview with “Stratechery.”
“The thing I worry about with Apple is that their phones and other devices are so locked down that they can gain a lot of power,” he said, using AirPods as an example.
People who work for Meta and Apple did not answer a message sent over the weekend asking for feedback.
As he gets ready for a second term as president of the United States, Zuckerberg has been changing his own brand by rolling back content control and DEI efforts at his company. But he has been fighting with Apple since at least 2014.
Zuckerberg has said bad things about Apple’s prices, its app store, its privacy rules, and most recently, the company’s Vision Pro VR headsets.
But Zuckerberg said on the show that he is still hopeful.

“I mean, the good news about the tech industry is that it’s just super dynamic and things are constantly getting invented,” he stated. “And I think companies β if you just don’t do a good job for like 10 years, eventually you’re just going to get beat by someone.”
