AI-powered tools like OpenAI’s Whisper have made it possible for many note-taking apps to include transcribing as a core feature. As a result, the space has grown quickly. Many apps, including AudioPen, Cleft Notes, and TalkNotes, are available in app stores and on the Internet. However, most of them don’t have many features. You can record and transcribe notes, and some even sum them up. There’s still a lot of ground to cover in terms of features.

This is the first time that Voicenotes has been used. Voicenotes was created by Jijo Sunny, founder of the creator-tipping platform Buymeacoffee, and his wife Aleesha. It aims to be different by offering an AI assistant that lets you ask questions of your past notes, as well as other features like summaries and different formatting choices.

In a video, the developers talked about how they started making a voice note tool with Jijo’s brother and co-founder of Buymeacoffee, Joseph Sunny, as a way to pass the time after having a loss. The couple made a lot of voice notes while talking to doctors and nurses so they could remember what was said later. That also made them think about having a recording tool on hand so they wouldn’t have to play over their notes over and over to remember things.

They sent the first version of the app to a small group of users in March and made the web app public in April.

    The App Itself

You don’t have to log in to Voicenotes’ webapp; you can just hit “record” and start talking, and the app will copy it.

If you don’t pay for the tool, you can only make voice notes that are one minute long. After you stop recording, you can use AI to tag the notes, change them, and make new names. You can also use AI to change the format of the note into a blog post, tweet, to-do list, or email. The app will also summarize the note and list its important points.

There is also a feature called “Ask my AI” that lets you look through your notes by voice using the AI assistant. For example, if you want to remember what brand of dish soap you put on your grocery list two months ago, you can use this feature.

The business now has apps for both iOS and Android. This is a big plus since Cleft Notes only works on iOS and Mac (it’s still in beta). AudioPen can be used from anywhere as an online app, but it can’t record in the background on iOS. If you lock your phone’s screen or switch to another app, it will stop recording.

The AI in Voicenotes can also remind you to take notes by giving you suggestions.

    Competition And A Plan

Voicenotes has some good features, but as we already said, it’s quickly becoming crowded in this area. It also has to deal with rivals that offer better features. For example, Cleft Notes lets you transcribe notes on the device itself, which is important because it keeps your notes private instead of sending them to a server to be transcribed. It also works better with Apple products and lets you take up to 10 minutes of notes for free. AudioPen gives you a lot more ways to organize your notes, which some people might find helpful.

VoiceNotes has to fight with other AI-powered voice note apps as well as native apps like Google Recorder on Pixel and Samsung’s Transcribe Assist. These apps are only available on certain models for now, but as technology improves, they may make their way to other models as well.

All of these apps would be in danger if Apple added transcription to its own voice notes apps. If that happened, third-party apps on iOS devices would no longer be needed. Still, it might be worth it to offer compatibility across platforms, better formatting choices, and more features.

It’s free to try Voicenotes, but if you pay $10 a month, you can use better models like GPT-4 Turbo and Claude Opus and your notes can be any length you want. You can also pay $50 for a “believer” plan that gives you access to the app for life, or at least as long as the creator keeps updating it. The business said that payments have already brought in $100,000.

Jijo emailed TechCrunch and said that the “simple but elegant design,” the use of the best AI models, and the “Ask My AI” tool will make the app stand out.

He also said that Voicenotes would soon be available on smartwatches because the company wanted to make it work as a real-time helper on more platforms. It is also working on making voice notes into to-do lists that will tell you of things.
