AI has already shown us some strange things. Friends, things will only get stranger from here on out. As the tech world dives headfirst into the uncanny valley, lines will blur and things will keep getting weird.
Take the Meta Connect talk on Wednesday as an example. Multiple Meta AI and Llama demos played over and over at the event, but one stood out for being very strange.
Mark Zuckerberg asked Don Allen Stevenson III, the founder, to join him on stage. As the real Stevenson stood between the CEO of Meta and a picture of himself on the big screen, the CEO picked up the phone and started talking to an AI-generated version of Stevenson.
AI Studio, a tool for making custom chatbots, was shown off in the demo. When it first came out in July for all U.S. creators, the app only let them add text. At the event on Wednesday, it was shown how artists can make virtual versions of themselves.
Stevenson said of how he’s used the platform, “If you’re getting a lot of direct messages and you don’t have time to respond, Creator AI has been answering a lot of my frequently asked questions.” “It helps me save time.” I can take a break outside now.

We saw the demo of Meta at the same event where we heard robots voiced by Awkwafina, Dame Judi Dench, John Cena, Keegan-Michael Key, and Kristen Bell. It gets stranger from here on out.
