Even though showrunner Matthew Chauncy is now in charge of X-Men 97 Season 2 isn’t going through a big overhaul. In the weeks and months before its premiere, X-Men 97 got a lot of hype. But the shocking news that Marvel fired the director Beau DeMayo not long before its Disney+ premiere put a damper on the animated series. Marvel hired Matthew Chauncy to write X-Men 97 Season 3 less than two months after the epic end of Season 1. It wasn’t clear, though, how the new showrunner would affect Season 2, which had already been recorded. At the recent Indiana Comic Convention, X-Men 97 star Lenore Zann talked about where the show is now during a panel led by Maggie Lovitt of Collider.

“We’re done recording X-Men 97Season 2, and that will be out in 2026,” Zann said as she talked about how her friendship with Rogue changed between X-Men: The Animated Series and the continuation. This isn’t really a big surprise. When Lovitt talked to Zann and Matthew Waterson last summer, they were both pretty much done recording the second season. Brad Winderbaum, an executive director for Marvel, even said last year that the vocal parts of the show were almost finished. He said that there is usually a break between the first and second seasons: “It takes three years to do it.” So everything is still on track for the 2026 premiere date, coming after Season 1 came out in 2024.

Zann was on the panel with original voice artists Chris Potter and Alyson Court. During the discussion, Zann also talked about meeting the new writing team:

Marvel Set to Release More Animated Projects This Year:

There was a lot of talk about firing Beau DeMayo before the show’s start, but in the end, X-Men 97 didn’t suffer because of it. After the first two episodes aired, the show became an instant hit. While some Marvel projects lose viewers as they go on, X-Men 97 stayed a classic from the beginning to the end. Over 91% of fans liked the show, and 99% of reviewers gave it a perfect score of 99% on Rotten Tomatoes. The 99% grade for X-Men 97 is enough to make it the highest-rated Marvel Studios Disney+ project ever, just beating out Ms. Marvel and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

Marvel started the year off with the hit cartoon show Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. This year, two more animated shows are set to come out. The first is Ryan Coogler’s Eyes of Wakanda, which is based on the book Black Panther. The show will follow Wakandan warriors through time as they go around the world looking for vibranium objects that have been lost or stolen. Marvel Zombies, a TV-MA show that starts on October 3, is the other animation show coming this year. There will be four episodes of Marvel Zombies, and it will bring back MCU stars Florence Pugh, Hailee Steinfeld, Elizabeth Olsen, and more.

Matthew Chauncey won’t be changing anything about X-Men: Season 2, but it still doesn’t have a set date for when it will come out. Watch X-Men 97 on Disney+ and stay tuned to Collider for more news and analysis of the show.

Brad Winderbaum, who is in charge of TV at Marvel Studios, recently announced when X-Men 97 season 2 will come out. It was one of Marvel’s most popular projects last year, the animated TV show. The voices of the show’s characters are done by talented people like Cal Dodd, George Buza, Jennifer Hale, Ray Chase, and many more.

Brad Winderbaum Reveals X-Men ’97 Season 2 Aiming for 2026 Premiere:

The head of Marvel’s TV and streaming services just recently talked about the plans for X-Men 97 season 2.

Many fans thought it would come out in 2025, but Brad Winderbaum put an end to all those rumors. He told Steve Weintraub of Collider, “X-Men 97 season 2 will start in ’26.” It’s being worked on right now. It’s exciting.

Winderbaum also talked about how much he loved X-Men 97 and said, “I can’t believe they let me make it.” I grew up at Marvel and spent a lot of time here. I feel like I spent a lot of time and money to bring back the show I loved watching after school. He also said that the success of X-Men 97 “opened up some opportunities on the development side” for more animated shows.

Brad Winderbaum said, “I think it’s important to try to make these shows happen once a year so that people know they can count on them.” Even though we’re working on other things, X-Men 97 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man are the most important ones for us right now as we try to make sure we have great seasons every year.

On March 20, 2024, the first season of X-Men 97 came out. However, after it came out, Marvel revealed that Beau DeMayo, who ran Season 1, had been fired from the project. The cartoon show’s second season was already set to start in 2022.
