Photos captured in a German forest that appear to show an untidy guy wielding a “spear” have fueled rumors that the “wolf man” that is said to prowl the forests of the Harz region may indeed exist.
Hikers took two photographs that show a man with long shaggy hair sitting on a rock while carrying a long stick in his left hand and another instrument in his right hand. The man is seen scratching the rock with the instrument in his right hand.
On Tuesday, Gina Weiss and her companion Tobi claim to have snapped the photographs with their cell phones as they were walking beneath a group of sandstone caverns in the Harz national park.
When they arrived at the sandstone caves, Ms. Weiss claimed the German tabloid Bild that she and her companions spotted the “wolf man.” “He was standing atop one of the caves, holding a long wooden stick like a spear in his arm.”
She recalled that “he didn’t take his eyes off of us and he didn’t say a word,” adding that the meeting lasted for about ten minutes.
She went on to say that he has the appearance of filth and acted like a man from a historical text.
Is it just ‘a prank’ or does it include a mysterious hermit?
Since 2015, Bild reports that there have been sporadic sightings of the man, and local officials have claimed to have found evidence that someone was igniting fires and erecting primitive shelters in the forest.
However, a volunteer with the local fire service stated to The Telegraph that they had not observed anything out of the ordinary in the forest. The volunteer referred to the report as “nonsense” and speculated that the images were “a prank.”
There are infrequent reports in the regional media about hermits who survive off the land in Germany, where a third of the country’s total landmass is covered by impenetrable forest.
A US citizen was discovered residing in a hut in the depths of the Eifel, a low mountain range in western Germany, in the year 2007, where he had been cultivating a tiny marijuana crop. The Eifel is located in the west of Germany.
The modern stories that are associated with the woods play a significant role in the public imagination. The German Brothers Grimm were the authors of many well-known fairy tales that were inspired by the woods.
This summer, there were rumors that a lion was roaming the forests outside of Berlin; however, upon further investigation, it was determined that the animal in question was actually a wild pig.
After making the allegation that they had video proof that showed the hind end of a lioness, the authorities in the upscale suburb of Kleinmachnow instructed residents to stay inside until further notice.
After scouring the area with helicopters and drones but coming up empty-handed, the officials in charge of the situation were eventually compelled to admit that there had been a case of mistaken identity.
