The third season of Vinland Saga has been one of the most noticeable anime shows to not air in recent years. The story of Thorfinn’s trip has been pretty quiet since the second season ended in 2023, even though it was as deep, complicated, and politically charged as shows like Attack on Titan and Game of Thrones.
There have been times when there has been no news in the anime tale before, though. That being said, we thought it would be best to sail off into the unknown and share what we know about Vinland Saga season 3 so far. This includes rumors about when the movie will come out, which comics chapters might be turned into a movie, and which characters, like Einar, Leif, and Canute, might show up again in new stories.

Vinland Saga Season 3: Which Manga Chapters Will It Cover?
The Eastern Expedition Arc (chapters 100–166) of the book will almost certainly be turned into a TV show in Vinland Saga season 3. Some smaller story points might be cut to save time, but the anime has had one main arc per season so far, and there’s no good reason to change that now.
While we don’t want to give away too much, we can say that the Eastern Expedition Arc is a small obstacle on Thorfinn’s way to Vinland. He goes to Greece to raise money for the trip instead of going there. He always ends up butting heads with new people, and he’s stuck in the middle of a fight between factions with the Jomsvikings.
How did we get here? Thorfinn, a young boy, goes on an adventure with his father across the seas, but he ends up dying at the hands of a cruel thief named Askeladd. This is the story of Vinland Saga.
Then something strange happens: Thorfinn joins Askeladd’s army. At a time when tensions are rising in England in the 1100s, he quickly becomes one of the most important people in a country full of Vikings, attackers, and the man he wants to kill.
It turns out that Prince Canute, not Thorfinn, kills Askeladd. Canute takes over England from the dead King Sweyn and struggles with the crown’s evil curse.
But the second season goes in a different direction. Thorfinn in the first season was irritable and moody. In the next set of episodes, the main character, who is now a young man, is sold into slavery and becomes friends with Einar. He even doesn’t believe in war or violence, which makes King Canute very confused when the king invades the farm where Thorfinn is kept.
They are eventually set free, and Thorfinn goes back to his home country of Iceland to see his family. He also says that he wants to sail to the mythical land of Vinland and build an ideal there, just like his father had dreamed.
Vinland Saga Season 3: What We Know About the Possible Release Date:
Taking all of this into account, we think that Vinland Saga season 3 will likely come out sometime in 2024 or early 2025 at the latest. Who is new to the Vinland Saga season 3 group, and who might be back?
When Will the Vinland Saga Season 3 Trailer Be Released?
We can only wait for the Vinland Saga season 3 preview for now. But the marketing history of the cartoon does help us narrow down a possible release date.
There were 18 months between when the second season was first announced and when it first aired. A full video came out three months before the movie came out in January 2023. Because of this, we couldn’t expect a teaser or release video until late 2025. A trailer seemed as far away as Vinland itself. The most likely year is 2026.

You can watch the first two seasons of Vinland Saga on both Netflix. However, the translation on slightly better, so we’d recommend that you watch it there instead. You can watch it on Prime Video as well.
