Even if you’re not into small science, you’ll be glad when season 2 of Shadow and Bone is over and want to know if there will be a third season. Call me if you want to know about Shadow and Bone Season 3. We’re going to get through this together, whether you love the Crows or hate the Darkling.
Shadow and Bone is one of those shows that you watch all at once as soon as it comes out on Netflix. I want to know what comes next. Ravka and the world of the Grisha completely take over my mind. So beautiful are the clothes, hair, and magic! Don’t even talk about how many OTPs I have. What does it matter if I yell “KISSSSSS” at the characters on my screen more often than I learn about the politics of this fantasy world? In some way, Shadow and Bone pulls you in.
Shadow and Bone Season 3 – When will it be released?
It’s too bad that the show has to be revived. Shadow and Bone’s second season started on March 16, 2023, almost two years after the first season ran in April 2021.
Will Shadow & Bone Return for Another Season?
Shadow and Bone Season 3 has been officially cancelled, along with a number of other Netflix shows. Deadline says the streamer made the choice a week after the end of the Hollywood strikes.
Potential Developments for Shadow and Bone Season 3:
So, the first two seasons pretty much follow what happens in the three Shadow and Bone stories. Season 2 ends in a way that makes me think they could end it. But not everything from the series is shown on the show. There’s more to the story than that. There are also more books by Leigh Bardugo set in the same world. There are two books about Six of Crow. They’re all about people we know and love from the Netflix show, like Matthias, Inej, Nina, Wylan, and Jesper. Entertainment Weekly says that a Six of Crows spin-off show might happen, but they don’t say how the cancellation would affect this.
Where to Stream Shadow and Bone?

How did Season 2 wrap up in Shadow and Bone?
There were hints that the Shadow Fold would fall in Season 2. Mal was the third generator, and Alina killed him to do this. Though Alina had sworn she would never use merzost (remember Baghra told her, “You will not know what price it demands until it is too late”), she later brought him back to life.
The Sun Summoner Alina killed The Darkling, also known as General Kirigan, after taking down the Shadow Fold. “Alina, make sure I’m gone.” Please. “Please,” he told her right before he died. Nikolai was hurt by one of Kirigan’s nichevo’ya, so it looks like he now has black magic.
Before he is crowned king, Nikolai looks in the mirror and sees a shadow monster instead of himself. This shows a wound on his back. Nikolai is played by Gibson, who told Tudum, “And at the end, after being stabbed by one of the Darkling’s shadow monsters, there’s definitely some black magic in him.”
At the end, Kaz talks about a new gun that is about to come out. Someone in Carter’s story said that the drug jurda parem “could make the destruction of the Shadow Fold look like a spring picnic.” Kaz said, “If the Fjerdans turn this drug into a weapon, the results would be unimaginable.” At the same time, a woman speaking Fjerdan and looking like she is high attacks people at Nikolai’s crowning. When Alina does the Cut, which is dark instead of light, she stops her. Alina gives a small smile at the end of the show.

The Unseen Journey of Shadow and Bone Season 3:
Again, Shadow and Bone will not have a third season. However, it was said that the show’s creators were planning to adapt the book King of Scars “in a possible third season.” “There had to be a price for using Merzost to bring Mal back,” Heisserer told Newsweek about Alina’s big reveal at the end of Season 2. “We landed on what you saw for the final scene as a way for her to confront all the things that Kirigan may have been warning her about, and where we go in the next season, we’ll definitely touch on that.
“It looks like what we try to do at the end of each season is set up the main internal tensions of the next season.”These end episodes are the ‘f*** around’ chapter, and the beginning of the next season will be the ‘find out’ chapter,” Heisserer said.
What Fryklind said about Nikolai to Entertainment Weekly was, “We’re more interested in the mental side of being infected by this than the physical side.” The next step for this figure will be exciting; it will have a Jekyll and Hyde feel to it.
Shadow and Bone Season 3 – What to Expect in the Plot?
No story details for Shadow and Bone Season 3 were given away, and Leigh Bardugo’s books don’t help much with guessing what will happen next because season two already covered a lot of the books.
The second set of episodes quickly followed the second and third books in the Shadow and Bone series. They also included parts of other Grishaverse books, such as Crooked Kingdom and Six of Crows.
But that doesn’t mean there isn’t more to say. The Darkling’s death marks the end of season two, which is similar to how the book series finishes. But Alina and Mal have a happy ending after everyone thinks Alina is dead. This lets Alina take on a new name and reopen the home where she and Mal grew up together.
Because they break up at the end of season two, Netflix’s version is very different from this, and it also adds a new dark element to Alina’s world. In the long run, an extension of the show could follow the books, but season three would have to cover a lot of new ground first.
Shadow and Bone fans should be ready for a darker third season if the plan moves forward, especially if Jessie Mei Li gets her way.
“From what I can tell, Alina is scared a lot of the time in season one. She’s brave in season two too. And I think that going from being brave to not being afraid is the next step. “Which is really interesting, because I’m pretty fearless in real life,” she told Cosmopolitan.
“I’m not scared of much, so I’ll just jump into anything.” Having that trait isn’t always a good thing, but I believe it has helped me. There is a darker and more dangerous side to that, though.
What The Fans Thought About Shadow and Bone Season 3?
Laura, known as @laura_the_book_peanut on Instagram and Laura M on Youtube said that:
“I can see why they are ending the show. Netflix is a business, and if the show costs more to make than it makes, it’s not making money. As for me, I thought it was a pretty good translation. You can make up people, places, and most importantly, events in your head, but nothing can really beat that!”
Matina from @breathing_pages added:
“I love Leigh Bardugo’s books, so I was thrilled to learn that Shadow and Bone would be based on one of her stories.” loved to seeing Leigh Bardugo’s characters come to life because her writing is so deep. I loved the show so much. There were great acts, and I was sad when the show ended. I was also surprised, because both the books and the show have a lot of fans. There were people who wanted it to be brought back. I’d love for the Crows story to be told as a separate story. It looks like we haven’t seen the last part of the story yet.”
