Neither Clinton nor Trump have been blamed for anything wrong that happened with the late sex offender.
A lot of court papers about the late guilty sex offender Jeffrey Epstein were made public on Wednesday. They include the names of a lot of important people. Former Presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump are two of them.
Epstein killed himself in jail while waiting for his trial on federal sex-trafficking charges. Neither Clinton nor Trump have been accused of any crime in connection with Epstein.
Where Did The Papers Come From?
The papers, which add up to almost 1,000 pages, were part of a 2015 defamation claim that one of Epstein’s accusers, Virginia Giuffre, filed against him and Ghislaine Maxwell, his ex-girlfriend and convicted partner.
Giuffre said that when she was a teenager, Epstein and Maxwell, a British socialite, forced her to have sex with important men like Prince Andrew. Giuffre and Andrew came to an agreement outside of court, and Andrew rejected what she said.
In mid-December, U.S. District Judge Loretta A. Preska ordered that the papers be made public, saying that most of the names and information in them were already known to the public.
What Do They Say About Trump And Hillary?
A second accuser, Johanna Sjoberg, said in a 2016 deposition that Epstein “said one time that Clinton likes them young, referring to girls.” The record of that deposition is now public. She didn’t say more.
Sjoberg said in court that Epstein told her he would take her to Trump’s casino in Atlantic City, but she didn’t say anything bad about it. In court, she also said that Prince Andrew had touched her improperly at Epstein’s New York home.
The papers that were made public on Wednesday list Clinton’s name 73 times and Trump’s name only four times.
What Did Clinton Have To Do With Epstein?
His Excellency has admitted that he flew on Epstein’s plane and had several meetings with the jet-setting rich man.
Giuffre said in court papers that she met Clinton on Epstein’s private island in the Caribbean, but she didn’t say anything bad about him. Clinton denied ever going to the island after being captured on Epstein’s plane.
Clinton’s office said in a statement that the former president knew “nothing about the terrible crimes” Epstein was accused of in 2019, after Epstein was tried on federal sex-trafficking charges.
A month later, Epstein killed himself in federal jail.
How Did Trump Get Along With Epstein And Maxwell?
Trump and Epstein were friends for a long time before Trump became president.
In 2002, Trump told New York magazine, “I’ve known Jeff for 15 years.” “Great guy.” It’s fun to hang out with him. Some say he likes pretty women just as much as I do, and a lot of them are younger.
Epstein was caught in Palm Beach, Florida, in 2005 on charges that he paid a 14-year-old girl to have sex with him.
Epstein admitted in 2008 in Florida that he had asked and helped get a person under 18 years old to be a prostitute. Epstein was given a 13-month sentence in county jail with the option of working every day as part of a deal his lawyers made with Alexander Acosta, who was the U.S. attorney for Miami at the time. The agreement said that Epstein would not be prosecuted, and a related federal investigation into possible crimes was dropped.
Epstein had to pay dozens of his victims money and register as a sex offender, but if he had been found guilty on federal charges, he could have spent the rest of his life in jail.
When the shocking 2018 Miami Herald investigation revealed the plea deal, Trump stood up for Acosta, who was his labor secretary at the time, but said he “wasn’t a big fan” of Epstein.
In 2020, Trump was asked what he thought about the case while Maxwell was waiting to go to court for helping Epstein sexually abuse girls under the age of 18.
“I’m not sure.” I haven’t been paying too much attention to it. To be honest, I just wish her well. After living in Palm Beach for a while, I met her a lot of times over the years, Trump told reporters at the White House. “But no matter what, I wish her well.”
Maxwell was found guilty in 2021 and given a 20-year federal prison term.
What Other Well-known Names Are In The Papers?
On Wednesday, the documents were made public. They include the names of Alan Dershowitz, a lawyer and former Harvard Law professor; Bill Richardson, a former governor of New Mexico; Glenn Dubin, a billionaire hedge fund manager; Les Wexner, the founder of Bath & Body Works and another billionaire; and Jean-Luc Brunel, a French modeling agent who killed himself in jail in 2022 while waiting for his trial on charges that he raped young girls.
