I miss Thursday’s Dungeon Meshi. Thanks a lot. From January to the middle of June 2024, every Thursday was Dungeon Meshi. My place of stability, where I stay. More than once, I told myself, “Ah, it’s Dungeon Meshi Thursday, everything will be fine.”
And I wasn’t the only one who felt this way. I got a tweet from a reader who was mad at me because I told them that episode 25 wouldn’t be out until Delicious in Dungeon Season 2.
It’s good to know for sure that Delicious in Dungeon is still going. The last episode of season one aired on the same day that Studio Trigger and Netflix announced that work has begun on Delicious in Dungeon Season 2. And while we don’t know what to expect from the popular, heavily RPG-influenced series, we can get some ideas together and make a tasty pot of guesswork.
When Might Delicious in Dungeon Season 2 Be Released?
Since we know for sure that there will be a second season, the next question that comes to mind is when?
When season two was announced, there was no date given. We do know, though, that work is already beginning on the Delicious in Dungeon Season 2. Studio Trigger most likely went right from the first season of Dungeon Meshi to the second.
This is the first Trigger cartoon to have a second season, which is a pretty cool fact. Like Dungeon Meshi, there have been many Trigger series with seasons of about 24 episodes. In all of those cases, those 24 episodes were the end of the series. We can’t use a past episode of Trigger to get an idea of how long it takes to make a new season of the same show.
Based on how things are going in the business right now, the earliest that Delicious in Dungeon’s second season could come out is summer 2025. But this is animation, and it takes time to make animation. Especially if you want to make sure the artists are safe. In this light, having to wait longer between seasons is a good thing. But based on how fast Trigger usually works, winter 2026 seems more likely.
Is the Season one Cast Returning for Delicious in Dungeon Season 2?
Even though it hasn’t been confirmed, it would be strange if the cast of Dungeon Meshi season one didn’t come back for Delicious in Dungeon Season 2, which will probably be the last one. The English dub group seems to be having the time of their lives on this show, which makes it even better.
Along with Emily Rudd from One Piece, Damien Haas would play Laois Touden in the English dub. Casey Mongillo (also known as dub Shinji Ikari) would play Chilchuck Tims, SungWon Cho would play Senshi, Lara Stahl would play Izutsumi, and Lisa Reimold would play Falin Touden.
You can hear Kentaro Kumagai as Laois, Sayaka Senbongi as Marcille, Asuna Tomari as Chilchuck, Hiroshi Naka as Senshi (fun fact: he also plays Garp in One Piece), Mitsuho Kambe as Izutsumi, and Saori Hayami as Falin. Another cool fact is that Saori Hayami is a badass who plays Shinobu in Demon Slayer, Yor in Spy x Family, and Yamato in One Piece.
What to Expect in Delicious in Dungeon Season 2?
The manga by Ryoko Kui called Delicious in Dungeon has fourteen volumes, which are made up of 97 episodes plus some extras. The names of those chapters are the same as the names of the anime shows. This means you don’t have to give anything away to find out how much the anime version has covered and how much more it still needs to do.
There are 24 episodes in the first season of Dungeon Meshi. They cover chapter 52 of the manga “Bacon and Eggs.” That means the Delicious in Dungeon Season 2 will begin with chapter 53, “On the First Level.” That’s not even the name of a food or monster, so something has to give.
We watched 24 episodes of Dungeon Meshi, which is a little more than half of the 97-chapter story. It makes sense that a second season of the same length would finish the story. There is no word yet on how many episodes will be in season two, though. Trigger could also choose to split the releases into two shorter seasons of 12 episodes each. On the plus side, this could mean getting some episodes sooner.
In either case, Dungeon Meshi has about half of its episodes left. Most likely, Delicious in Dungeon Season 2 will be the last one. So make sure you hold your spoon right and enjoy your food as much as possible.
How much of the manga remains unadapted?
Kui’s original manga had 97 chapters and ended in September 2023. Trigger’s anime has stuck very close to the manga’s pace, with two chapters usually being shown in each episode. There is a lot more to learn about our heroes’ journey to save Falin and beat the crazy magician after episode 24. It picks up right where chapter 52 left off.
Where Do We Go from Here?
The comics can be read, which is good news! English-language fans can now get all but one book of Delicious in Dungeon. The last volume will be out on July 23. You could start with volume 8, which has the first chapters that Trigger hasn’t done yet, if you don’t want to start at the beginning. Also Read:Tower of God Season 2: Everything We Know So Far
