Apple said Thursday that Final Cut Pro for iPad 2 and Final Cut Camera are now available. The company first talked about both apps at an iPad show in May. Apple also put out changes for Mac Final Cut Pro.
New features have been added to the iPad version so that it can work with the new iPad Pro with an M4 chip. Apple says the new chip can render up to two times faster than the M1 and can handle up to four times as many ProRes RAW streams.
When it comes out, Final Cut Pro for iPad 2 has a new tool called “Live Multicam” that lets users connect up to four cameras wirelessly and see previews of all of them at the same time. With the new Final Cut Camera app, users will be able to see each camera as if they were a director and change their settings by hand. Users can link up to three iPhones or iPads with the new partner app. Final Cut Pro moves and syncs each Live Multicam angle instantly, so you can go from filming to editing without any problems.
Live Multicam is run by Final Cut Camera, and the iPhone and iPad can also use it as a separate video app. It lets people change things like ISO, focus peaking, grid outlines, manual focus, shutter speed, and more.
Support for outside projects is another feature that was asked for a lot in Final Cut Pro for iPad 2. Users can now make new projects or open an old one without using up any internal file space.
People who use Final Cut Pro for Mac 10.8 will be able to use new AI tools. A new feature called “Enhance Light and Color” will automatically fix the colors in video, and a new feature called “Smooth Slo-Mo” will mix video frames to make movement look better.
