According to David Fahrenthold of The New York Times, DOGE took down the five highest savings claims from its “wall of receipts” leaderboard after several news sources pointed out mistakes in the company’s calculations.
The savings were taken away without any explanation from DOGE or the White House. They included a cut of $232 million to the Social Security Administration that only added up to $560,000; a cut of $8 billion to Immigration and Customs Enforcement that only added up to $8 million; and three cuts of $655 million to the U.S. Agency for International Development that only added up to $18 million. All of these mistakes look like they could have been avoided by people.
At the very bottom of DOGE’s list of savings, it says, “Scoreboard normalized to agency size and budget.”
“This is just a rough draft of the leaderboard, so there are likely to be some mistakes in the relative rankings at first.”

Beginning of this week, DOGE said that all of its changes had saved it $65 billion. Even though the claims were recently taken down, the website still brags about this number.
