Kaiju No. 8has quickly become one of the biggest anime hits of the past few years. It has thrilling action and a story about an outsider that fans have rallied behind. Its Kaiju No. 8 season 2 will start in July 2025, so many people were thrilled to hear that it would be coming to Netflix. There is a big catch, though: most fans around the world won’t be able to get to it. The next season will only be streamed in certain parts of Asia, which makes fans outside of Asia feel left out.

What’s on Netflix says that this limited release is annoying for many, especially since the show is becoming very famous very quickly. Since its first issue in 2020, Kaiju No. 8 has sold more than 18 million books, showing that people all over the world really want to read it. Netflix has decided to limit streaming access for season 2, even though the show has a lot of fans. This could hurt foreign engagement and make growing fans angry because they were hoping for a wider rollout.

What to Know About Kaiju No. 8 Season 2:

Kaiju No. 8 season 2 will air all over the world on X (formerly known as Twitter), just like the first season. It is still the only anime to do so. When it airs on July 5, the Hoshina’s Day Off side story cartoon will also be shown at the same time on X. As “Japan’s Strongest Anti-Kaiju Combatant” and Kikoru’s trainer, First Division Captain Kōki Uchiyama will be voiced by the voice actor Tomura Shigaraki. The official cast and staff list for Kaiju No. 8’s season 2 has not been released yet, but it’s likely that many of the people who worked on the season 1 will also work on the season 2. This is because many of them worked on the Hoshina’s Day Off special episode. The people who worked on the Kaiju No. 8 season 1 are:

    • Shigeyuki Miya as director
    • Yuichiro Kido behind the series composition
    • Scripts by Yuichiro Kido
    • Music by Yuta Bando
    • Character designs by Tetsuya Nishio
    • Shinji Kimura as art director,
    • Tetsuya Nishio as chief animation director

The cast of the Kaiju No. 8 season 1 includes Masaya Fukunishi (Draken, Tokyo Revengers) as Kafka Hibino/Kaiju No. 8; Asami Seto (Chihaya Ayase, Chihayafuru) as Mina Ashiro; Wataru Katō (Martis Jun Asari, Aoashi) as Reno Ichikawa; Fairouz Ai (Takechiyo, Yashahime) as Kikoru Shinomiya; Kengo Kawanishi (Muichirō Tokitō, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) as Sōshirō Hoshina; Kōki Uchiyama as Gen Narumi; Keisuke Kōmoto (Kagura Karatachi, Boruto) as Haruichi Izumo; Shunsuke Takeuchi (Askin Nakk Le Vaar, BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War) as Aoi Kaguragi and Yūki Shin (Takemichi Hanagaki, Tokyo Revengers) as Iharu Furuhashi.

What to Expect from Kaiju No. 8 Season 2:

Fans of Kaiju No. 8 may have been interested in the season 1 because it promised big fights with huge monsters. But that will really come into play in the season 2. Because the JAKDF now knows that Kafka can change into Kaiju No. 8, he needs to use that power to fight off new dangers. Gen Narumi, who we met in the season 1, will be keeping a close eye on him to make sure he doesn’t lose control either.

Now that the season 1 is over, you can watch it all over again. They also give you a sneak peek at what they have planned for Kaiju No. 8 Season 2. “Kafka Hibino doesn’t get turned into a weapon because of Isao Shinomiya.” Gen. Narumi is the strongest man in the Defense Force and the boss of the First Division. Kafka meets him as the new soldiers are going to their posts. Kaiju No. 8’s power is used by Kafka to make Gen see how strong he is. And in the background, Kaiju No. 9 is hiding, ready to be the biggest danger the Defense Force has ever faced.

Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 Available on Netflix in Select Regions Only:

Netflix has stated that starting in July, Kaiju No. 8 season 2 will be available to stream once a week, but only in certain Asian countries. Japan will definitely be able to watch, and it’s possible that other countries like South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand will be able to too, just like with season 1. Some areas, though, no longer have the anime in their Netflix libraries, which makes people worry about how limited this release will really be.

For anime fans outside of Asia, this means another season that can’t be seen in their country. A VPN might let you connect to those foreign areas, but subtitles might not be available. If English subtitles are missing or episode drops are blocked in your country, even fans who are ready to go to great lengths might not be able to watch.
