A story shared by Hollywood Reporter says that The Mandalorian season 4 has been cancelled. The news has not yet been confirmed by the show’s makers, but since season three came out more than a year ago, there has been no official line. Things don’t look good.
Read on to find out what we know about a possible Mandalorian season 4.
Expected Release Date for The Mandalorian Season 4:
Today, THR reported that The Mandalorian season 4 has been cancelled. The new movie The Mandalorian & Grogu will take its place.
It says that “instead of a fourth season, Disney decided to pivot The Mandalorian to launch its first Star Wars feature film since The Rise of Skywalker.”
The even worse news is that The Mandalorian & Grogu won’t come out until May 2026. This means that fans who really want a follow-up will have to wait more than a year.
If this is true, it looks like the season four scripts that creator Jon Favreau was said to have finished have been changed into The Mandalorian & Grogu.
It’s not clear if the movie will be the end of Mando and Grogu’s trip together or if it will bring the TV show back to life and lead to a Mandalorian season 4. We’ll let you know when we find out more, though.
The Cast of The Mandalorian Season 4:
If there’s going to be some kind of continuation after the movie, the cast will depend a lot on what happens. But we think that Din Djarin and Grogu will be back, with Pedro Pascal playing the title character again.
Most likely, Giancarlo Esposito, who played Moff Gideon, won’t be back because he was burned to death by the joint troops of Din, Bo-Katan, and Grogu, along with a ship on fire.
Amy Sedaris as Peli Motto and Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Carson Teva are two other actors who might be back for a possible fourth season of The Mandalorian.
Carl Weathers, who played Judge Greef Karga, died in February 2024, so he won’t be joining them.
Also, there might be new people in any fourth season, since Sigourney Weaver is joining the movie in an unknown part. It was revealed by the Alien star in August 2024 that she had “met Grogu” and was planning to film her parts before going to London to be the lead in a big new stage production of The Tempest.
The Mandalorian Season 4 Storyline – Key Plot Details:
Based on how things have gone so far, we think that what happens in The Mandalorian & Grogu will have a big impact on the plot of season four.
Because the movie hasn’t come out yet, we’ll have to guess based on the last episode of Mando’s third season.
To be honest, the end of The Mandalorian’s third season felt more like the end of the show than a preview of what’s to come.
Din Djarin took Grogu in as his own son after beating the Moff. Grogu is now Din Grogu and a student of the Mandalorian. When they got back to Nevarro, Greef Karga gave them a house outside of town to stay in.
Now that he has Grogu to train, Din Djarin tells Carson Teva that he will be “more selective” about the jobs he takes on. He offers to work for the New Republic “on a case-by-case basis,” but they will keep the deal between them.
Also, Nevarro has a new captain, but it’s not Din Djarin. It’s the IG-11 that was rebuilt, and Taika Waititi did the speech.
That was the end of season three. Din Djarin and Grogu were just chilling out in their new home.
This means that The Mandalorian and Grogu can start with a pretty blank slate. This age of Star Wars stories could end with the stand-alone movie, or it could start a new story.
Filoni talked to Variety about the thread that will connect all of the Disney+ shows up to this point to the movie after the movie was announced at Star Wars Celebration 2023.
“On a base level, I would just say the coming conflict, the growing idea that the empire wasn’t as defeated as a lot of people want to believe and that the remnant is out there,” he added.
“We saw that right from the start with The Mandalorian and how Gideon, played by Giancarlo Esposito, was planning.” There will always be people who want to destroy something that the Republic is working to build and fix.
There were a lot of stories I read as a child that took place in an expanded world and looked at what happened after Return of the Jedi. Fans have thought that there was a new Republic and a residue of the Empire, and that the war went on after Return of the Jedi, even though the heroes won and were in charge more. What did that button look like?
“We can also tell another story after Force Awakens because it takes place 30 years after Return of the Jedi. That’s what I’m putting together at this point in time.”
Is There Any Trailer For The Mandalorian Season 4?
Of course not, and even if there is another season, it will be a long time before we see it. We’ll always let you know when we find out more.
But for now, enjoy the best parts of season three.
How Many Seasons Will The Mandalorian Have in Total?
We don’t know how many seasons of The Mandalorian there will be in total.
In March 2023, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni talked about how the show would end on the Dagobah Dispatch podcast, which was made by Entertainment Weekly just for Star Wars. (Remember that this happened before The Mandalorian and Grogu were announced.)
Filoni and Favreau both refused to say how many seasons of The Mandalorian there will be. Favreau only said that he was having “a really enjoyable moment” and that the show would go on as long as people kept watching.
Favreau said, “I don’t know what would make me not enjoy doing it, especially if people can connect with these characters.” It feels like a really fun time right now. I also love how this style lets me tell one part at a time, keeping the audience guessing while also meeting their needs.
