The crime drama Lady in the Lake on Apple TV+ is exciting and stylish, and it will fill the void left by David Fincher’s Mindhunter. It was a huge letdown when the Netflix show that followed fake agents at the start of the FBI’s criminal profile unit was canceled too soon. Fincher gave a detailed reason for canceling Mindhunter season 3, saying that money problems were to blame. Even though they tried to work something out, he eventually refused to keep the show going. Luckily, many of the things that made Mindhunter such a great movie are also in this new Natalie Portman series.
People may find connections in the shows‘ retro sets, which are based on great music and items from the time period. It balances this out with critical self-reflection on how society is so interested in murder. In Lady in the Lake, Portman’s character Maddie is also questioned as she looks into the strange deaths of eleven-year-old Tessie Durst and waitress Cleo Johnson.
These two movies have a cool, stylish vibe because they are set in old times. The music they choose is more than just random needle drops. The use of “Psycho Killer” in Mindhunter’s first episode was a bit over the top, but “In The Light” by Led Zeppelin went perfectly with Holden’s panic attack in episode 10 after his interview with Kemper by himself. The great music in Lady in the Lake shows the same artistic talent.

The question of whether Wayne Williams was guilty changed to whether the FBI’s profile of Williams made him a general suspect that let other killers get away?
Holden can’t see the problems with the method he came up with because he is so sure of it. Holden gets personal happiness and the search for the truth mixed up. The same is true for Maddie from Lady in the Lake. Her desire to find Cleo’s killer is tied in with her goals to become a writer. Cleo’s account shows the problems that come up when a white woman uses a black woman’s story to get attention. “Your writing dreams made your life terrible,” she says. “You want the same dreams to write it again.” “Did you have to drag my dead body into it?”
Lady In The Lake vs. Mindhunter: How Do the Reviews Stack Up?
People really liked Mindhunter when it first came out. To follow up on season 1, David Fincher had to live up to the standards set by season 1. This was not an easy task. On the other hand, reactions to Lady in the Lake haven’t been so highly praised so far. The way it was put together and the interesting personalities have been praised. Many people have praised Moses Ingram’s performance as Cleo, whose story was expanded from the book by Laura Lippman.
