Make some music and heat up the waffle iron: Last but not least, severance season 2 is back. This workplace thriller on Apple TV+ was written by Dan Erickson and directed by Ben Stiller. It aired in February 2022 and quickly became a huge hit on the Internet, drawing viewers into the world of Lumon Industries. The last episode of Season 1 left us on the edge of our seats when the “severed” floor’s Innies (their work selves, who have no memory outside of work) learned a big truth about their Outies (their outside selves) and how they are connected to the higher-ups at Lumon.
Fans of the show (Sevvies? Sev Heads?) Are eagerly waiting for new clues from the secret box that is Lumon because the second season has been delayed several times. There has been a lot of talk about this show, and now that season 2 has a start date, it’s going to be the must-see show this winter. Find out everything you need to know about Severance season 2 before it starts.
How Many Episodes Does Severance Season 2 Have?
There will be a total of 10 episodes in the severance season 2. One more will be added after the nine-episode first season. Severance season 2 starts on January 17 with a two-episode opening. From then on, every Friday, there will be a new show until the end on March 21.
Meet the Cast of Severance Season 2:
Many important characters were left hanging at the end of the season, so it’s likely that all of your favorite actors will be back. This includes Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Zach Cherry, and Dichen Lachman. The show has a lot of new actors, such as Bob Balaban, Robby Benson, Stefano Carannante, Gwendoline Christie, John Noble, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Alia Shawkat, and Merritt Wever.
For season 3 and after? Erickson said that he planned to talk to Barack Obama about a guest part at the Emmys, where the former president was nominated for best narration for the Netflix docuseries Our Great National Parks. Severance’s creative team is going for the moon. Erikkson said, “If he’s there, I’ll ask him if he wants a part on this show.” He’d add some weight, so I think he’d be great. Devin is played by Jen Tullock. She joked, “If we could get Barbra Streisand to come around, I’d pretty much give you every American dollar I have in my bank account.”
For his part, Stiller has more realistic hopes. He said, “For me, there are a lot of people like Christopher Guest. I kind of imagine, ‘Wow, that would be great if he could be on the show someday.'” “It’s fun to have a show like this where people can watch a few episodes and still feel like they belong in the world of Severance.”
What Can We Expect in Severance Season 2?
We don’t know much about severance season 2 yet, but Erickson did drop some hints during our chat. He teased, “There’s definitely going to be some world-wide growth.” The speaker said, “We will see more of the building and the outside world inside Lumon.” After that, he said something about how the whole story was put together:
“There is a big plan for the show. I know where I want to end it, and I didn’t plan it season by season on purpose—I wanted it to be open enough that we could get there in two or six seasons. I want the show’s direction to be a surprise to us. Lumon’s goals are clear, as are the parts our main players will play and the place where it will all come together. It makes me excited to think about what will happen next on that trip.”
The thrilling cliffhanger at the end of the first season: Mark, Irving, and Helly finally bring their babies into the real world, but it’s not easy. The huge effects of their trick are that Mark finds out that his “dead” wife is actually a coworker, Irving finds out that his Lumon lover is married, and Helly learns about her Eagan background. She then tells a group of powerful people in the industry that the layoff process is torture. Dylan was caught by Mr. Milchick, but Stiller told Deadline that Dylan had already seen The Matrix when his girlfriend found out he had a kid.
Stiller said, “Obviously, that’s a big question that needs to be answered because this glimpse has changed how they see the world.” “The severance season 2 will have to deal with a lot of that; it will be a big part of the beginning of the second season.” There is a lot of tension for Mark as well, and what he says will make his love life difficult. Stiller said, “We should root for Innie Mark and Helly, but now we should also root for Outie Mark to find his wife.” “That’s a cool contrast and conflict that we’ll look into in the second season.”
