“I think the Space Force will be involved in going to the moon at some point,” says a Republican politician.
As humanity continues its trip into space to find new things and possible ways for people to stay alive, there is a chance that superpowers will try to get ahead in this race to strengthen their control over the world.
Some of the most powerful countries in the world are thinking about sending their armies into space to keep their rivals in check. This is in addition to science explorations and trying to figure out how these things work.
Ken Calvert, a Republican from California, has also said that the US army might build a base on the moon’s surface to fight possible threats from China and Russia in space.
The Washington Times reported that a key Republican member in the House thinks that China is “getting ready for China to militarize the moon and Russia to put a megaton bomb in low Earth orbit.”
Calvert told a group of top government and tech leaders in Washington, DC, that the US Space Force is also going to go to the moon.
“Space Force will be actively involved in, I think, in going to the moon at some point and that discussion is ongoing,” he said.
The official spoke out because he thought that China would also start militarizing the moon. This happened at the same time that China’s National Space Administration shared a video showing its plans to build a base on the moon’s surface near the International Lunar Research Station.
“There’s no question that China will militarize the moon, so I think we will also have a base there…….. “Perhaps by the end of the decade.”
In 2021, both Russia and China made plans connected to ILRS.
The US congressman also talked about news stories that said Russia was planning to launch a “apparently one-megaton bomb into low-Earth orbit.”
The threat to set off that bomb is simply blackmail against the world: if something happens that they don’t like, they will do it. It would also destroy everything in low-Earth orbit because it would send a radiation field around the world, he said.
