He has reportedly presented himself as a lawyer for three years and has handled 26 cases before the High Court, Magistrates, and Court of Appeal Judges. As per the Law Society of Kenya, he is not a registered member of society.

“The branch must inform all members of society and the public that Brian Mwenda is not an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and is not a member of the branch.”

On Thursday, legal officials in Kenya requested police arrest a man practicing under the name Brian Mwenda. They said the man was “anonymous” and had stolen the identity of a real lawyer, named Brian Mwenda Ntwiga.

The media reported that a fake lawyer had won dozens of lawsuits despite not being trained.

Mwenda was praised by Kenya’s Central Organization of Trade Union (COTU) as a “brilliant young mind” who has won cases without traditional qualifications. Mr. Sonko, the controversial former governor of Kenya’s capital, posted a video on social media in which he said that the man standing next to him was the accused ‘fake lawyer’.
