A beast that was discovered in Mississippi broke the record for the longest alligator that has ever been discovered in the state. It gave off huge “Jurassic Park” vibes as it was discovered.
Both its length (which measures 14 feet and 3 inches) and its weight are incredible for their respective categories. According to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, the alligator that was seized on the second day of Mississippi’s hunting season weighed 802.5 pounds and had a belly girth of 66 inches. According to Super Talk Mississippi News, the previous record was set in 2017 when a group of hunters successfully captured an alligator that measured 14 feet and 0.75 inches in length and weighed 766.5 pounds.
According to the department’s report, the record-setting alligator was captured on Saturday, August 26, by a group consisting of Tanner White, Don Woods, Will Thomas, and Joey Clark. According to Red Antler Processing, the monster was discovered by the hunters in the Yazoo River.

Woods told the Clarion Ledger that it took the crew seven hours to get the alligator onto their boat after they captured it. He referred to the experience as “mentally exhausting.”
“We hooked him eight or nine times and he kept breaking off,” Woods reportedly stated to the outlet of the fish. “He would descend, take a seat, and then proceed upward. He continued to go under the logs. He was very experienced in the field. The craziest part is that he didn’t move from that location at all.
In Mississippi, the alligator hunting season in public waters runs from the 25th of August to the 4th of September. 2005 was the first year that the state allowed alligators to be hunted for sport.
