I watch a lot of Netflix shows, and most of them don’t stay in the top ten for more than a few weeks, let alone months. However, the Paramount+ Original show School Spirits was able to do just that. It launched on the streaming service in March 2023 and on Netflix in November 2023. Forbes says that School Spirits stayed on the list for three months, peaking at number nine on January 1, 2024, even though it never reached the top spot. So, why do so many Netflix users feel they have to watch this show?
For starters, the concept of School Spirits is very interesting. The show, which is also being made into a graphic book, is about a young girl named Maddie, played by Peyton List of Cobra Kai, who wakes up at her high school in the afterlife. The story takes place in a made-up town in Wisconsin. She is not sure how she got there, though. They try to figure out what happened to her with the help of her best friend Simon (Kristian Ventura) and other kids who are stuck in high school/purgatory.
People who watched the show liked it, and reviewers also thought it was good. Rotten Tomatoes says that reviewers gave School Spirits an 83 percent rating, and fans gave it an 89 percent rating. The show was given 7.6 out of 10 stars on IMDb. School Spirits got great reviews and a lot of people, so it seemed like a no-brainer for Paramount+ to pick it up for a second season. And they did. Fans are hoping to get some answers now that School Spirits Season 2 is coming out because the end of season one left them on a huge cliffhanger. What will Maddie do next? When Did They Confirm School Spirits Season 2?
School Spirits was picked up for a second season by Paramount+ in June 2023, just two months after the first season ended. The show was one of the best teen stories on Paramount+, just like it was on Netflix.
When is the Release Date for School Spirits Season 2?
In June 2023, Paramount+ confirmed that School Spirits would be back for a second season.
Recently, star Peyton List was asked on Instagram if there were any new details about School Spirits Season 2. She said, “It is coming.” “I promise.”
She was shooting the sixth and final season of Netflix’s Cobra Kai at the time, though, so she couldn’t go.
Simon is played by Kristian Ventura on the show. He talked to The Direct at the end of 2023. He wasn’t sure when School Spirits Season 2 would begin filming, but he thought it would happen sometime in the summer:
This turned out to be true; Peyton List confirmed on Instagram that filming had begun on June 13. The Union of British Columbia Performers, or UBCP/ACTRA, confirmed that School Spirits Season 2 will run until September 5, which is almost three months from now.
Soon after, the next season will start. Paramount+’s press site confirmed that School Spirits Season 2 will return this fall.
The first season didn’t start until March 2023, five months after shooting finished in November 2022. So this is a pleasant surprise.

Has Production Begun for School Spirits Season 2?
I’m pleased to say that work on season two has finally begun! Milo Manheim, who plays Wally, our favorite lovable ’80s jock, recently wrote on Instagram that shooting for the new season had begun, with the words “SCHOOL SPIRITS SEASON 2 HAS BEGUN!!” Along with the news was a picture of the group without their costumes on. The artists who play Maddie, Simon, Wally, Rhonda, Mr. Martin, Charley, Xavier, Nicole, and Claire were all in the picture.
I’m glad to hear that the whole group is back to walking the haunted halls. This is especially true given how long and hard filming had to be slowed down by the writers’ and actors’ strike in 2023.
What’s Coming Up in School Spirits Season 2?
Get Maddie to switch back into her real body so she can switch places with Janet. Season 2 of School Spirits will have a lot of plots, but none of them will probably be as important.
As the ghosts try to figure out how to get Maddie to switch places with Janet in School Spirits Season 2, the way she interacts with the other ghosts is also going to be very important.
Of course, Maddie and Simon’s friendship has a lot of potential to grow into an even bigger plot point in Season 2, so all eyes will be on them both in the next episode.

I’m not sure. Since School Spirits is a Paramount+ Original series and the first season debuted on Paramount+, I’m sure the Season 2 of School Spirits will also debuted on Paramount+ and may then be available to watch on Netflix.
