Right after the end of season 2, it was confirmed that there would be a Jujutsu Kaisen season 3. This season would adapt the Culling Game arc of the series. It’s clear that 2023 was a great year for Jujutsu Kaisen, and plans are already being made for another year of success.
The second season of Jujutsu Kaisen started airing in 2023. It was even better than the first season thanks to its great direction and story. If you count all the amazing things that happened in the series as it moved through its last arc, 2023 was without a doubt the biggest year for Jujutsu Kaisen so far. Right now, there isn’t a lot of details about how Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 is being made. However, there is still a lot to talk about, whether it’s based on what happened in seasons 1 and 2 or on the manga for the series.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 – What’s New?
As of this writing, the only real news about Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 is that it has been given the go-ahead. Since season 3 was only announced right after season 2 ended, there won’t be much news about it right now. The only thing that is known is that it will adapt the manga Culling Game and follow the story’s development. But as work on season 3 moves forward, more information is sure to come out as the show’s release date gets closer. That information will be shared at the right time.
Fans can’t wait for MAPPA to adapt the Culling Game arc, but the series has announced that a new Jujutsu Kaisen movie will help them relax while they wait. But it will be a collection of the amazing Hidden Inventory Arc that has been re-edited for a theatre release. In 2025, fans will be able to see the amazing fights between young Gojo and Geto and Toji on the big screen with other excited fans. We don’t know much more about it yet, but we hope it’s like the most recent Demon Slayer films, which ended with new material for fans to enjoy.
Anticipated Release Date for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3:
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 was announced after season 2, also known as the Shibuya Incident arc, came to an end. Season 2 ran from July 2023 to December 2023.
Based on the length of the next story arc, the next season will likely be about the same size as the last one, and fans will have to wait about two years between episodes.
The first sample looks like it was made with sketch paper, and there is no release date yet, which usually doesn’t mean that it will come out in 2024. The earliest that Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 will come out is 2025. Since MAPPA is working on the Chainsaw Man movie right now, 2026 may be an even more likely date.
That means you have a lot of time to watch the whole series again. To review, read our in-depth guide on how to watch Jujutsu Kaisen in the right order.
The Cast of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3:
Even though Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 was just given the go-ahead, all of the players who made it through season 2 are likely to be back. Many of the actors who play important roles in Jujutsu Kaisen should be back for season 3. They are Junya Enoki as Yuji Itadori, Yuma Uchida as Megumi Fushiguro, Takahiro Sakurai as Kenjaku, Junichi Suwabe as Ryomen Sukuna, Noriko Hidaka as Yuki Tsukumo, and Megumi Ogata as Yuta Okkotsu. Major characters like Higuruma, Takaba, Naoya, and Kashimo will be introduced in Jujutsu Kaisen season 3. As soon as their voice artists are announced, that information will be shared.
Who Will Handle Production for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3?
Even though there were problems with season 2, Studio MAPPA has announced that there will be a third season of Jujutsu Kaisen. Still, because there were so many staff changes between season 1 and season 2, Shota Goshozono, Sayaka Koiso, and Yoshimasa Terui might not be back for Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 to direct, create characters, and compose, respectively.
The Story Behind Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3:
The name for Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 makes it sound like it will be based on the Culling Game arc of the manga. After the Shibuya Incident, Kenjaku, who is really the sorcerer who stole Geto’s body, sets up a national fight to the death between sorcerers? The goal is to raise Japan’s cursed energy so that all of its people can be fused into one huge cursed spirit. As Jujutsu Kaisen got closer to its end, the Culling Game arc added a lot of new characters and storylines that I really enjoyed. I can’t wait to see all of that come to life in animation as well.
And it’s also easy to guess how much of the Culling Game story will be used. Both of the first two seasons were based on about eight to nine volumes of the manga. Since season 2 ended at volume #16, Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 will probably go up to volume #25 of the manga and bring back Satoru Gojo. Along with keeping the pace steady, finishing season 3 there would be the perfect cliffhanger to get people excited for the likely fourth season.
Trailer for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3:
After the end of season 2, a short video for Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 came out to show that it was being made. The Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 trailer didn’t show much—just a few lines introducing the main idea of the Culling Game arc, voiced by actors, and some manga art being animated. But once production is further along, there will definitely be a longer video for people to watch.
How Soon Can Fans Expect Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3?
As was already said, there is still no official date set for the release of Jujutsu Kaisen season 3. This hasn’t changed in almost six months since the end of season 2. Studio MAPPA is working on a lot of TV show ideas right now. Lazarus, the original anime series Zenshu, the second season of the underrated anime Hell’s Paradise, and a remake of Ranma 1/2 are all being worked on. Any cartoon company would have a hard time with that many projects, but that’s not all they’re working on right now.
The people who work on JJK’s cartoons are also making a few pictures, which takes up a lot of their time and energy. Some of them include the movie version of Chainsaw Man’s Reze arc, which will pick up where season 1 left off in the show. Also, the Jujutsu Kaisen Hidden Inventory movie is coming out in 2025. However, since it will be re-editing season 2 shows that have already been finished, it probably won’t delay other planned projects. Fans shouldn’t expect season 3 any time soon because those and other projects are likely to come first.
There are a lot of guesses about when Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 will come out. The time between Jujutsu Kaisen seasons 1 and 2 was two years, so if the production schedule stays the same, season 3 probably won’t come out until mid to late 2025 at the earliest. The book finishes in September 2024, so there will be another long wait for season 3, but it will be worth it because of how good it is.
Where Can You Watch Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3?
There is no official word on when Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 will come out, so there is also no official word on where it will be streamed. It’s likely that Crunchyroll will stream Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 like they did with the first two seasons and Jujutsu Kaisen 0. However, Crunchyroll could lose the rights to stream season 3 to Netflix or Hulu before it comes out. All of that is, of course, just a guess. Make sure to check this page often, because any new information about Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 will be posted here as soon as it’s released.
