Its official that Fallout season 2 is coming. We found out that more episodes are coming out just a week after the hit show based on some of the best Fallout games came out on Prime Video. The good news is that all the big names are also coming back.
So, after that very dramatic season end, we’ll find out what happens next with the Ghoul, Lucy, and Maximus. Here is everything we know so far about when Fallout season 2 will come out, who will be in it, what will happen, and more. What do those ending reveals mean? What do the games tell us about the future of the story? Our helpful guide also has some special insights from the creators and cast.
Now, before we go any further, I want to tell you that what’s about to happen will majorly spoil Fallout season 1. Before you scroll on, make sure you’ve seen all eight shows.
The Release Date of Fallout Season 2:
The Fallout Season 2 is going to happen, but there is still no clear date for when it will come out. But right now, we think it will be late 2025 or early 2026.
Because the Fallout team can’t wait to get the next season out, these times have been set. “We’re moving as quickly as we can, and a lot of the hard work from Season 1 is already done,” director Graham Wager said.
“The sets, assets, and visual effects are already done.” This season, we’re off to a great start. We’re going to do everything we can to get season two out as soon as possible.
There was also news about filming after California revealed that Fallout had been given a tax credit to move from Namibia to that state for fallout season 2. It has been said in Esquire that there are rumours that shooting could begin again in September of this year. We’ll let you know as soon as we hear anything new!
The Cast of Fallout Season 2:
Right now, the only Fallout cast members we know for sure will be back are the big three: the Ghoul, Lucy, and Maximus.
This is because they were shown in the release for season 2. But we’re pretty sure that all the big players will be back, at least the ones who made it out alive. So far, this is what we think the fallout season 2 group will be:
- Ella Purnell – Lucy MacLean
- Walton Goggins – The Ghoul / Cooper Howard
- Aaron Moten – Maximus
- Kyle MacLachlan – Hank MacLean
- Moisés Arias – Norm MacLean
- Sarita Choudhury – Moldaver
- Frances Turner – Barb
Then there’s Aaron Paul, who might make his appearance in season 2. Jonathan Nolan says that he really wants to be a star. But only time will tell if the star is able to join the cast of Fallout season 2. So, bookmark this page and check it again when we get more information about the casting.
What Was the Finale of Fallout Season 1 All About?
That was the end of Fallout season 1. You can learn more about it in our guide on how the season ended. There were a lot of loose ends for all the main characters in that episode. During the last episode, there is a standoff at the Observatory. This is where Lucy meets Moldaver and finds her dad.
Hank has not been completely honest, though. He was actually part of Vault-Tec’s management team two hundred years ago. Because Norm learnt later in the show, Vaults 32 and 33 have been home to the group of supermanagers known as Bud’s Buds.
Not only that, but Lucy’s mother didn’t die the way they were always told she would. From what she knew, people lived on the surface, so she tried to take her kids there to Shady Sands. Hank found Lucy’s mum and burned the house down, leaving behind a ghost-like figure.
Max is now seen as the Brotherhood’s “sword” in other places. He shows up at the Observatory with plans to help Lucy and set Hank free. But Hank gets away in the Brotherhood’s power armour when the Ghoul asks him what happened to his family.
Lucy is finally given a choice: she can stay with Maximus while he fights for the Brotherhood, or she can join the Ghoul and find out who is “behind the wheel.” She decides to kill her mom with a gun and leave Maximus behind. Maximus is now a knight and has the cold fusion gadget when he wakes up.
That’s not all, either. Hank is seen walking towards New Vegas, a place that game fans will recognize.

What Will Happen Next in Fallout Season 2?
So far, there is no clear word on what will happen in Fallout season 2. But that doesn’t mean we don’t know what’s going to happen next. First, it looks like the Ghoul and Lucy are going to go find more Vault-Tec members, like Barb, who is the Ghoul’s ex-wife and someone we’ve only seen in flashbacks so far.
Most likely, this will put them on the way to New Vegas and the Mojave Wasteland, which are important places to visit next. That one isn’t very close to being in line with the games yet, but the world will be harsh and torn apart by war.
The Brotherhood is now in the best situation it has been in years because they have the cold fusion device. It’s said to have “limitless power,” and it will be interesting to see if Maximus does good things with it…
What Do the Creators and Cast Reveal About Fallout Season 2?
The stars and creators of Fallout season 2 have given us some hints about what to expect next.
As a start, co-showrunner Graham Wagner hinted that a big monster would be back in season 2 by showing their skull in the last episode of season 1. “We didn’t want to just throw away Deathclaws because we wanted to get it.” “It’s such an important piece,” he told TheWrap. “We want to save something for Fallout Season 2 so that we can do it right, not just add to the huge amount of world-building we had to do in Season 1.” So, Season 2, we’re excited to finally talk about one of the games’ most famous parts.
Elle Purnell, who plays Lucy, told GQ that her character will be very different after the end of season 2. “I want the audience at the end of the show to wonder if their hero is still a good person,” she stated. “This is what happens when you break something that can’t be broken. I don’t know who she will be in season two.” “I have no idea what she’s going to become.”
At the same time, Sarita Choudhury, who plays Moldaver, talked to GamesRadar+ about what she hopes will happen next and how her character lived for 200 years.
“Something inside me knows a lot about the season you see and the things you get.” “But I’d ask the same thing,” she says. “Something I know is private, but I don’t know much either.” But I also loved it because you were like, “Wait a minute, I want to know what life was like every day from when the bomb went off for 200 years.” Because she couldn’t get to the things that people who lived in the Vault had. I need to know about it. Do you get what I mean?”
Thank Goodness Amazon’s Fallout Adaptation Isn’t a Collection of Anthologies
The showrunners’ answers about a Fallout season 2 anthology have been very vague in the past, but I’m glad to hear that Amazon Prime Video is “fully committed” to the characters and plots from Fallout’s Emmy-nominated first season. In a recent chat with Variety, Amazon executives Vernon Sanders and Jennifer Salke talked about the direction of the second movie. “It does have a lot of doors we can go through, which is the beauty of the IP,” Salke said, adding that Amazon is still on track to pick up the story where Fallout season 1’s ending left off.
“I think one of the best ways to go in a different direction is to stop using anthologies.“
Anthology style would be fun for a game as big and complicated as Fallout, but it’s pretty clear from how season 1 went that at least the first two seasons of the show are meant to follow Lucy, Maximus, and The Ghoul. The Fallout show changes the games in big ways, and I think that moving away from the collection style is one of the best ways to do that. If not, new seasons would have to spend time getting to know new characters, which might work in an interactive game but isn’t very interesting to TV watchers.
The Focus on Characters in Fallout Season 2 Helps Address Concerns from Season 1’s Cliffhanger:
At the end of Fallout season 1, the show hints at some exciting things that will happen in season 2. I’m excited to see the Brotherhood of Steel fight other groups in the Wasteland, even though I don’t know what will happen next for any of the other groups in Fallout season 2. It was found out that Lucy’s dad, Hank, is a dedicated Vault-Tec worker who was frozen before the bombs to complete the company’s goal. He is now wearing power armour and on his way to Las Vegas. With all of its cliffhangers, Fallout does a great job of staying true to its personalities.
Fallout Can Maintain Game Integrity While Enhancing Continuity
The executives at Amazon said that the show has “a lot of doors” that are worth opening, and not just the doors to Fallout’s many Vaults that are spread out in the Wasteland. I think it’s a good point that the commenter made that the show can tell many stories and introduce many characters without losing its present leads. The first season of Fallout did a great job of making the show and games feel like they went together, with Easter eggs and nods. I believe that Amazon Prime Video’s Fallout series doesn’t need to be a collection of short stories to keep up that interesting trend.
