Ginny & Georgia’s second season came out at the beginning of 2023, almost two years after the first season. The drama/mystery show about a mother and daughter coming of age follows them as they get used to their new life in a small Massachusetts town, but secrets follow them everywhere they go.
Ginny & Georgia made a lot of noise in 2021 when its first teaser trailer made fun of Gilmore Girls. The show also became a controversial favourite with some famous scenes (looking at you, Oppression Olympics and that awkward Taylor Swift joke) but it quickly became a Netflix hit, and season 2 was no different.
Ginny & Georgia’s second season was the most-watched show on Netflix in the U.S. for two weeks in a row. It was praised for how it showed mental health issues and for giving fans more time with characters they loved, like Ginny’s dad Zion and her classmate Bracia. Since then, fans have been dying to know if Ginny & Georgia would be back for a third season. Now we not only know if they will, but we also have a guess at when it might come out.
After the end of season 2, fans had a lot of questions. The most important one was, “What the hell is going to happen to Georgia?!?” Here is everything we know about Ginny and Georgia season 3 so far, including the cast list, story summary, video, and any new information about when the season will be available on Netflix and other services. You can read it all, or you can use the lines below to skip to the part you want to see.
What is the Release Date for Ginny and Georgia Season 3 on Netflix?
Some cast members of Ginny & Georgia stated around the middle of September 2024 that filming for the third season of the show was finally over. Felix Mallard, Brianne Howey, Mason Temple, and Sara Waisglass all wrote Instagram posts to celebrate the end of the new season, which made fans all over the world even more excited.
“Filming for Ginny and Georgia Season 3 just wrapped,” Mallard wrote on September 18 along with a slideshow of photos from Season 1 of the group. “It’s sweet with bitter in it.” Fear and pride wrapped together. Thankful beyond words for having worked hard for a long time with such lovely people we can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve been up to since season 2… “I really enjoy this show a lot.”
The same day, Howey shared a picture of herself on set with her baby daughter and wrote, “And that’s a wrap GG!” “This season hit a little differently.”
Similar deep feelings were shown by Waisglass’s picture dump. She wrote, “If you couldn’t tell, I love my coworkers.” We’re now done with season three! Wow! This year, I’m so proud of the cast and crew that I don’t know how to say it without breaking an NDA. For now, I’ll just say thank you for making this show what it is. I seriously cannot believe I get to work with all of you every year. You are so incredibly smart and hilarious. “I LOVE YOU.”
After the strikes by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA, it wasn’t clear when the Netflix show would be made. Yet, against all chances, shooting for Ginny and Georgia season 3 began in Toronto, Canada, at the end of March 2024.
Adding to the proof, Antonia Gentry herself shared a picture from season one on March 29 with Diesel La Torraca, who plays her half-brother on the show. After season 2, the next slide showed a video of the two saying goodbye. In it, Gentry can be heard saying, “Promise me that you won’t be taller than me by the time I see you again.” The third and last slide showed the two of them back together on set for Ginny and Georgia season 3, but La Torraca broke his word. Gentry also shared a picture with a mirror on her stories, saying, “Season 3, what’s good?”
The next month, on April 29, Netflix posted something that seemed to be the cast’s first table reading to prove that Ginny and Georgia season 3 was indeed in production. Not long after, Brianne Howey wrote her own take on the table read:
Based on when the first two seasons came out, this could mean that Ginny and Georgia season 3 will probably start airing in the spring or summer of 2025. Since seasons 3 and 4 were released at the same time, it’s possible that they will be filmed right after each other. This could slightly change the plan but should mean that there is less time between seasons, but we don’t know for sure yet.
Ginny and Georgia season 3 probably won’t come out until 2025, whether it’s in the spring, summer, or later. Deadline had previously reported that the show was not on the streaming service’s plans for 2024 because of delays most likely caused by the writers’ and players’ strikes. Still, we’ll keep our eyes open for any official News from Netflix about production and release.
By the way, back in May 2023, the main group of the show got together for a super-special, super-sized video to say that they would be renew for two more seasons. Variety said that one of the biggest changes for Ginny and Georgia season 3 would be that writer and producer Sarah Glinski would take over as director from Debra J. Fisher. Glinski is best known for her work as the executive producer of Degrassi: The Next Generation from 2010 to 2015.

What Can We Expect from Ginny and Georgia Seasons 3 and 4?
The second season of Ginny & Georgia ended on a huge cliffhanger, just like the first season. This makes the plot of season 3 very difficult to follow. At the end of season 2, Austin ran after a police car because his mother was handcuffed inside. Once Georgia told her family and friends what she had been up to, it seemed like all of her secrets were out in the open. Well, until the cops showed up at Georgia and Paul’s wedding and arrested her for killing Cynthia’s husband Tom Fuller, who was dying. The whole town saw Georgia’s true colors—they were so shocked nobody knew what to say. Does three times really make the charm? Is Georgia going to get away with murder for good?
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter soon after the second season premiered, Debra J. Fisher, who used to run Ginny & Georgia, hinted that the writers might have already started making plans for the third season. “Seeing everyone watch the show and be excited about it has made it hard not to think about season three and where we want to go,” Fisher told THR at the time. “Because Sarah Lampert, who created the show, and I pitched it to Netflix as a four-season adventure, so we know how we want it to end.” “We already know what we want the last episode to be.”
Because of this, Ginny & Georgia season 4 might be the last season of the show. But with a new director in charge, there may be new chances to make the story bigger than Fisher and Lampert had planned. Creator Sarah Lampert wrote on Instagram on May 17 that the show would be renewed for two more years, “You guys don’t even know what’s coming for you.” I guess we’ll have to wait…
What happened at the end of Ginny & Georgia Season 2?
Marcus breaks up with Ginny near the end of Season 2 because he is having a depressed phase. Ginny is upset and angry at first, but she later offers Marcus her support by telling him, “Even if we’re not together, I can be your friend.”
And in the shocking end of Season 2, Georgia and Paul walk down the aisle and say “I do.” The cops suddenly show up at their wedding and arrest Georgia for killing Cynthia’s husband Tom, which breaks their fairy tale wedding. Georgia killed Tom in secret after Cynthia told her that she was ready for her husband, who had been seriously ill for a long time and was on life support, to stop suffering. This wasn’t Georgia’s first murder, by the way. Gabriel, the private detective, found out from his boyfriend that Georgia was in the room when Tom died, which is when she was arrested.
Georgia didn’t know it, but her young son Austin saw Tom die. Austin cries out to Ginny, “But I didn’t tell anyone!” as they watch their mum get taken away in a police car. That kid is so sad.
