Once again, Shrinking Season 2 has a start date! Season 1 will end in March 2023. On Monday, August 5, the comedy on Apple TV+ gave fans their first look at the new shows.
The news includes a sneak peek at the new season, the start date, more episodes, and word that Brett Goldstein, co-creator of the show, will be a guest star in Shrinking Season 2. Here are the latest news about when the funny show will be back.
Shrinking Season 2 Release Date:
Shrinking Season 2 starts on Apple TV+ on October 16 with the first two episodes. There will be a new show every week until the Season 2 end comes out on Christmas. Along with the release date, it was confirmed that Shrinking Season 2 will have 12 episodes, up from 10 in Season 1.

We now know that the main cast of Shrinking will all be back thanks to Apple TV+ and the YouTube preview. Among these are:

- Christa Miller as Liz
- Harrison Ford as Dr. Paul Rhoades
The actors in Shrinking are truly amazing, and they did an amazing job playing their parts in the show. One of Jason Segel’s Primetime Emmy nominations was for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. Another was for Outstanding Supporting Actress, and Jessica Williams got in on the act too. I can’t wait for Shrinking Season 2 to see them bring back their great playing skills. You can see them in the true peek video below:
Brett Goldstein, who co-created Shrinking and has been on Ted Lasso before, will also have a part in the next season. Deadline broke the story in March 2024, saying that Goldstein is only listed as a guest star and no other information about his role is given.
The story says that the actor has been tried to be on the show several times, but it hasn’t “pan out” until now.
Goldstein and Shrinking co-creator Bill Lawrence have worked together before on Ted Lasso, where Goldstein played Roy Kent in the lead role. In Thor: Love and Thunder, he had a small part near the end, and he was also in The Garfield Movie.
Is There Any Trailer For Shrinking Season 2?
Even though there isn’t an official video for Shrinking Season 2 yet, Apple did release a peek that shows the actors from the show back together in character. At the end, the debut date is shown on the screen.
What Can You Expect from Shrinking Season 2?
We know a few things about Shrinking Season 2, but not much about the story yet. At least we know that “forgiveness” will be the main theme of Season 2.
Lawrence told Variety in March 2023 that the second season would be about “forgiveness,” and if there is a third, it would be about learning how to move on with your life. I’m not sure how Dr. Rhoades will say that, but I’m ready for it.
We also know that Jimmy will be punished for giving his clients bad advice, which often got them into weird and crazy situations. If you saw the last episode of Season 1, you and I both know that what Grace, played by Heidi Gardner, did was wrong, and Jimmy is probably going to lose his cool about it.
In late March 2023, Variety interviewed Jason Segel, who revealed that Jimmy’s advice will have consequences because some of his clients have taken it seriously:
Make sure the show is honest. That was something we thought was really, really important. Jimmy is acting strangely and trying a new type of therapy that doesn’t follow the rules. There are rules for a reason. So, he needs to be held responsible for what he did. It can’t just work all the time. So there will definitely be effects on this and changes will be made. In the show, I say things like “bash his brains, eat them up.” Probably not the right kind of rehab.
Something like what happened with Grace makes sense, but man, I still can’t believe it.
Everything That Happened in Shrinking Season 1:
In Shrinking, Jason Segel plays Jimmy, a therapist who is grieving the death of his wife and changes the way he works with his clients to help them and himself. His methods push the edges of what is moral in his line of work, which is something that Paul (Harrison Ford), the well-liked office crank, often reminds him of. Gaby (Jessica Williams), Jimmy’s coworker and ex-best friend turned lover, is always questioning his ways, but she has important things to do herself. (Paul feels the same way, but he acts like he doesn’t want to talk to his coworkers.)
The Shoot is Over
The last thing we know about Shrinking Season 2 is that filming is over. In a comment on Twitter, Bill Lawrence said that production would begin on the Monday after he sent the Tweet in January 2024. After that, the Deadline story about Brett Goldstein joining the company proved that the show was still being made.
Linda Choi, a television and film makeup artist, welcomed the end of Shrinking Season 2 on Instagram in July 2024. Now that there is a set date for the next season’s release, we can’t wait to see what story is in store.
I can’t wait for October 16th and another great story that will make me cry. Lawrence and Goldstein, let’s do it. By “it,” I mean all of my feelings, which I can bring to therapy.
