The shooting for The Wheel of Time season 3 is over, and the show is now in post-production. We thought it would be a good idea to put together a list of what we know about season 3 until we hear more. This list won’t include everything we know, but it will include the most important things we know for now, until more information comes out. Variety says that the third season of “The Wheel of Time” will come out in 2025.
An article about Rosamund Pike’s role in Now You See Me 3 mentioned the third season of The Wheel of Time. It said, “[Pike] has played sorceress Moiraine Damodred in Prime Video’s epic fantasy The Wheel of Time since 2021, with a third season of the series set to release in 2025.”
For fans who love Robert Jordan’s magical world, this update is sure to make them happy. You might think the world-building in The Randlands has been hard so far, but wait until you see what’s coming next.
The Wheel of Time Season 3 – Release Date:
As was already said, the third season of The Wheel of Time will come out in 2025. The question is when. A movie on the official Wheel of Time X/Twitter page told us that shooting for the third season ended in March 2024.
It said, “Thank the Light, we’re done filming season three,” and many of the group members in the clip said in the video that that was the end of their work. Josha Stradowski, who plays Rand al’Thor, said he was “very, very excited for the audience to see [the new season],” and Daniel Henney, who plays al’Lan Mandragoran, said, “It’s going to be big.” The Wheel of Time has a long post-production process, but since shooting wrapped up in March 2024, we can expect it to come out in early 2025.
The Cast of Wheel of Time Season 3:
This is the group that we can expect to see back for The Wheel of Time season 3, assuming no one else leaves soon:
1- Rosamund Pike as Moiraine Damodred
2- Daniel Henney as al’Lan Mandragoran
3- Zoë Robins as Nynaeve al’Meara
4- Madeleine Madden as Egwene al’Vere
5- Josha Stradowski as Rand al’Thor
6- Marcus Rutherford as Perrin Aybara
7- Dònal Finn as Mat Cauthon
It’s too bad that Hopper the wolf won’t be back. He died in the last episode of season two while defending Perrin. Still, it’s okay. We think that wolves also go to heaven because all dogs do.
Story
First, what parts of the story do you think season 3 will cover? Rafe Judkins, who runs the show, says that the third season will be mostly based on the fourth book, The Shadow Rising. We are trying to get a fair amount of what’s done in Books 1-3 (with big parts still being saved for later) by the end of S2 so that S3 can be a much more faithful version of TSR.
He said this in a Q&A session after San Diego Comic-Con 2022. He also told the Hollywood Reporter that when season 3 was given the go-ahead, “The Shadow Rising has always been my favorite book in the series. Being able to bring it to television and introduce new audiences to the stories that made me fall in love with these books in the first place is such an honor, and something I’ve been working toward since I first pitched the show tons of years ago.”
The huge job of turning a story that was written over 14 books into a TV show, on the other hand, means that we can probably expect to see some parts of other books in the season.
Writers & Episodes
Rafe Judkins, who runs the show and is an executive producer, will write episode 304. Justine Juel Gillmer is an executive producer on shows 301 and 308. Dave Hill, who is the executive director, wrote episode 307. Katherine B. McKenna, who is the executive story editor, wrote episode 302. Beverly Okhio is joining season 3 as a story editor and writing episode 303. Rammy Park is coming back for a third season as an assistant story editor and wrote episode 306. Episode 305 was written by Ajoke Ibironke. During the season, Isabella Whiteman worked as an aid to the writer and Maximillian Fisher worked in the writer’s room.
We first said that Amanda Kate Shuman would be writing for season 3, but Sarah Nakamura, a book expert, has since told us that Shuman will not be writing for the next season. The WGA page says she is an Executive Producer for the season, but that hasn’t been proven.
Season 3 will have 8 shows, just like the other seasons. At this point, four names are known. There is, however, a chance that some of these names are just placeholders and will not be used. Also, as we said in the last piece, it’s possible that we gave episodes 302 and 308 the wrong names. This means that episode 2 could be “He Who Comes with the Dawn” and episode 8 could be “A Question of Crimson.”
What to Expect in The Wheel of Time Season 3?
Rafe Judkins, the show’s executive producer, says that season three of The Wheel of Time is going to go in a very strange direction.
“The first 15 minutes of season three is one of the most bonkers set pieces I’ve ever seen on TV,” Judkins told Deadline about the first scene of the third season. I just watched it this week, and what our team did is completely crazy… There are only women in their 40s and 50s ripping each other up, and it’s beautiful to watch.
Even though we haven’t found out for sure what that means yet, we have a good idea of where the story will go in season three.
Scripts for Auditions
Some of the figures who tried out have been a female Aiel channeler, a farmer from Two Rivers, Couladin, a possible Wil al’Seen and Cenn Buie, and Sammael. It’s important to keep in mind that many scenes written just for auditions don’t make it into the final show, even though some audition scenes were almost word-for-word in the final show. So, we shouldn’t think that the test scenes will be used exactly as they were in the show, or even at all.
JordanCon
We hope to learn more about season 3 at JordanCon, which takes place July-8–9, 2024. Rafe Judkins has been getting news ready to share at the gathering for a few years now. Rafe sent a message in 2021 telling people when the first clip for the show would be out. In 2022, Aviendha’s band was announced, and they took questions from fans. Along with another Q&A, the official tryouts for Bain, Chiad, Dain Bornhald, and Sheriam were shown last year, in 2023.
We’ll let you know here if there’s any news from the gathering!
